Yamaha Marine Service Instructor Part-Time (Pooled)

Type of Position:

Faculty

Responsibilities:

Responsible for teaching the Yamaha Introduction to Outboard Systems (ITOS) course and other approved courses. In coordination with the Community and Workforce Education Director, design, organize, and deliver course outcomes and complete administrative related expectations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Under general supervision, develops program and course learning outcomes, curricular outline(s), and delivery method(s)
* Prepares instructional lesson plans for ITOS
* Evaluates students' progress in achieving learning outcomes
* Requests and maintains supplies and equipment
* Prepares budget if required of the program/course; maintain budget expenses
* Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate
* Complete program/course documentation and administrative reports
* Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area
* Assists with student recruitment, retention and job placement efforts
* Coordinate administrative responsibilities related to scheduling, developing syllabi and teaching course(s)
* Assure all programmatic standards are met
* Develop industry partnerships, promoting the program
* Work independently, be highly flexible, and team oriented
* Work with non‐traditional learners, various ethnic and socio‐economic groups

Qualifications:

Technical Diploma in Marine Technology or closely related field from a regionally accredited technical institute, college or university AND five (5) years of work experience in a position related to Marine Engine Technology.

Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting agencies.

Technical Skills include:
* A comprehensive knowledge of Marine Engine service, including experience with maintenance, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair
* Able to work flexible hours, and manage multiple & competing priorities
* Knowledgeable of pedagogical practice and theory
* Supports the mission of postsecondary technical education
* Able to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff
* Skilled in the preparation and delivery of classroom content
* Willing to complete administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the College
* Skilled in the operation of computers and job-related software programs
* Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215.
