Overview

LRP Media Group, an industry-leading provider of multimedia solutions for business and education professionals for over four decades, is seeking Education Writers to serve its target audience of K-12 school personnel and attorneys through our subscription-based websites, which include Special Ed Connection® and ESEANOW™ and accompanying print products.

The Education Writers will develop advice-driven articles and in-depth coverage on educating students with disabilities or federal funding for public schools in a fast-paced, digital-first environment.

Responsibilities

  • Daily creation of best-practice, legal compliance content for the assigned website and accompanying print products, including articles that involve interviewing an expert, charts, one-pagers, profiles, and recurring features.
  • Minimum of three daily projects, such as an interview, an article designed to assist subscribers in their day-to-day jobs, or a chart outlining steps to facilitate compliance with a section of federal education law.
  • Expected to submit five articles based on interviews per week.
  • Interview education professionals and develop relationships with sources and subscribers to learn about the issues most concerning them.
  • Brainstorm new story ideas and concepts.
  • Periodically cover breaking news.
  • Travel up to five days a year to attend annual conferences as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications/journalism or related field
  • 2+ years of writing experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AP style.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, digital-first media environment.
  • Ability to work a schedule, which includes two days in our Palm Beach Gardens, FL office during regular business hours.
  • The position is for full-time employment.
  • Proven experience working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to locate sources, generate story ideas, and interview expert sources by phone.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain high productivity without sacrificing quality.
