This position is responsible for assisting the Controller in providing and maintaining the financial accounting and reporting functions of Meharry Medical College. As a Workday Finance Functional Director, you will be a vital part of our team, contributing to the optimization and administration of Workday systems related to financial management. You will have accountability to the Controller and the Executive Director of Workday Operations. Your role involves providing support, configuration, and maintenance for the Financial Management (FIN) and Payroll (PAY) modules within Workday. Position will contribute to the optimization and administration of Workday systems related to financial management.

Daily Operations

End-User Support and Troubleshooting:

• Assist users with inquiries and requests related to Workday FIN and PAY.
• Troubleshoot issues and escalate unresolved matters to senior team members.
• Provide timely and effective solutions to ensure smooth system operation.
• Configuration and Maintenance
• Administer and configure Workday FIN and PAY modules.
• Maintain system settings, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance processes and data integrity.

Data Integrity and Reporting:

• Conduct data audits to maintain accurate financial data elements.
• Collaborate with auditors during audits related to FIN/PAY.
• Assists Controller with developing and maintaining financial reports, dashboards, and KPIs.
• Must have good understanding of payroll, grants, and contracts, general accounting, accounts payable, student accounts and loans.
• Upload financial data into the general ledger system
• Correct inaccuracies in financial records

Process Improvement:

• Evaluate and enhance financial processes within Workday.
• Streamline workflows for efficiency and accuracy.
• Ability to create training materials for users.
• Assists in implementation of new software
• Test new functionality within FIN and PAY.
• Participate in cross-functional projects, providing financial expertise.

Integration and Compliance:

• Monitor integrations between FIN/PAY and other systems.
• Coordinate with functional owners to resolve integration-related problems.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of institutional fiscal and accounting policies and procedures
• Ability to pay attention to details.
• Thoroughly understands financial software applications.
• Knowledge of computer equipment and capabilities.
• Ability to interpret federal regulations regarding financial activities.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, recordkeeping
• Ability to perform numerical calculations.
• Ability to relate to others to establish and maintain an effective working relationship.

Required Education and Experience

• Education: Bachelor's Degree (minimum)
• Experience: At least 10 years in finance or related field
• Advanced Degree: Master's Degree (preferred)
• Fields of Study: Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Computer Information Systems
• Certification: Workday Financials Certification (preferred)
• Additional Certification: Workday Engagement Management/Project Management (EM/PM) or CPA
