Water Solutions Center Director

What We're Looking For:
The Water Solutions Center Director position reports to the COO and provides leadership of the Solutions Center and its staff. The Solutions Center Director is responsible for leading the Center in solving our client's challenges and turning their visions into reality.

The role has the responsibility of collaborating with the Client Centers to develop a strategic growth plan for Water. The Director has overall responsibility for recruiting, retaining, and developing talent by providing an exceptional employee experience. This role has responsibility to assign technical resources to projects and ensure that skills and capabilities match project needs and costs are kept within project budgets. The success metrics for this role are utilization, adherence to project budgets, quality, and employee experience. This role supports all Client Centers across Barge Design Solutions.

Solutions Center Leadership

  • Determines and implements Solutions Center purpose and vision.
  • Interact with clients in coordination with the Client Centers.
  • Leads strategic and business planning activities in collaboration with the Client Centers.
  • Active role in executing strategic business plans.
  • Build on existing rapport with current clients, officials, direct reports, and others.
  • Oversight and leadership of professional staff.

Project Delivery
  • Responsible for contributing labor revenue to projects and meeting, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Provides input to proposals and Project Management Plans to provide accurate estimates for projects or programs.
  • Ensures that the appropriate technical expertise is being developed within respective Solutions Center.
  • Works to reduce department projects costs to drive competitive status.
  • May act as a technical advisor on various projects.

Resource Management
  • Forecasts and develops the technical staff needs to align with Client Center growth projections.
  • Balances workload across the Center.
  • Responsible for recruiting, developing, and retaining staff.


Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited program.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience.
  • Applicable registration as required by discipline.
  • Business Administration and Leadership training preferred.
  • Resource planning and workforce management.
  • Collaboration across business sectors.
  • Strong technical knowledge in discipline and/or practice areas.
  • Keeps informed regarding new methods and developments affecting the organization and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate employees.
  • Ability to make sound business decisions guided by Barge's overall strategy.
  • Provide overall business leadership.
  • Meet or exceed utilization and billable rate goals.
  • Create a great work environment for the practice area.
  • Timeliness and quality of technical direct reports' and team's work on projects and budget adherence.
  • Embrace and champion our Purpose, Vision, and Values and champion this with direct reports.
