What You Will Contribute:

The Water Quality Strategic Account Manager (SAM) is responsible for developing and managing relationships with strategic customers including: National Accounts, Catalog Houses, and customers where a strategic partnership is desired. This position is responsible for coordinating and collaborating with Field Sales to grow strategic accounts within each region. They must also provide direction and carry out responsibilities in conformance with our Corporate Code of Business Conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as corporate liaison to currently established strategic accounts, as assigned by the Manager of Strategic Sales.
  • Maintains technical competence in Badger Meter's Analytical Products to be effective in consultative selling.
  • Have a working knowledge of competitive products as well as various technologies available to customers,
  • Establishes productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts.
  • Identifies potential new strategic accounts and acts as the lead sales team member
  • Coordinates the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources, in order to meet account performance objectives and customers' expectations.
  • Drives and implements strategy for profitable sales volume in assigned accounts.
  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Communicates strategic account strategies to field sales and provides detailed path forward/strategy for use by Regional Sales Management.
  • Contributes to Badger's success relative to balancing long and short-term goals and objectives with regard to addressing the needs of the market.
  • Develops respectful and dependent interrelationships amongst all departments and all levels of management.
  • Interprets the market requirements for all Analytical product lines and develop plans to penetrate strategic accounts.
  • Ensures that all contracts are current and are being managed.
  • Ensures that reports and correspondence are submitted on a timely basis including managing pricing notification to customers.
  • Motivates all field sales personnel to participate in strategic account initiatives.
  • Attends various shows and conventions as scheduled, and assist in staffing as requested by the Manager, Strategic Sales.
  • Communicates and lives the Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles of the Corporation.
  • Develops a good working relationship with and a loyalty to employees at all levels.
  • Assists in other functions as directed by the Manager, Strategic Sales.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with water quality and gas detection. Filtration experience a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 70%
  • Prior direct sales experience
  • Experience working with large or strategic accounts a plus
  • Previous management/leadership experience a plus
  • Experience selling a technical product into municipal and industrial environments.
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Advanced Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system knowledge
  • Ability to work with Corporate level customer contacts.
  • Understanding of Badger Meter processes and infrastructure
