The University of Virginia's Department of Student Health and Wellness seeks applications for a wage Psychiatrist. The Psychiatrist will:

*Ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements.

*Ensure that the highest quality psychiatric care is provided to patients and their families.

*Develop and maintain partnerships with multidisciplinary mental health clinicians to achieve quality care.

*Demonstrates strong communication skills, both written and verbal; critical analysis skills; problem solving skills and prioritization/time management skills.

*Provide comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic assessments for purposes of medication evaluations, treatment planning and medication management of patients seen through CAPS.

*See patients for initial psychiatric evaluations as scheduled.

*See patients for ongoing psychiatric care.

*Meet all standards of clinical care set forth through CAPS/SH policies and procedures

*Receive adequate extent of positive ratings on CAPS patient satisfaction questionnaire.

*Use Student Health electronic medical record for documentation of clinical care.

*Meet minimum standards on departmental peer review processes.

*Engage in administrative work pertaining to job functions.

*Adhere to all area of policy as required.

*Participate in treatment team meetings.

*Meet individually with non-psychiatric CAPS providers and other Student Health Providers on an as-needed basis.

*Work collaboratively with all professionals and administrators in Student Health.

*Attend Student Health/CAPS departmental meetings as required.

*Attend weekly CAPS Psychiatry meeting.

*Maintain positive relationships with co-workers.

This position may work up to 32 hours per week.

This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. For more information, refer to the Wage Employment link: http://uvapolicy.virginia.edu/policy/HRM-029.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Medical degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy. Completion of psychiatric residency

License: Licensed or license eligibility to practice medicine in the state of Virginia. Active Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number.

Required Experience: Some- up to 4 years

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

*Consistently demonstrate competencies in the areas of psychiatric diagnostic evaluation, medication evaluation, ongoing medication follow-up prescription, crisis management, case management, clinical consultation, collaborative co-treatment with multidisciplinary mental health clinicians and ethical decision-making.

*Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal; critical analysis skills; problem solving skills and prioritization/time management skills.
