The VPD-CNA will set the design strategy for Champion products. The VPD-CNA will lead the creative design process for the company's products across activewear and will influence the Champion Innerwear categories. The role will lead the design team through the development of new products from the generation of the product concept to the introduction to the market. This role will develop and implement designs that align with our distribution and consumer targets and increase consumer demand. With input from product management, sales, brand marketing and Global merchandising, the VPD - CNA will determine the style, color and material direction for all Activewear products.

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes overall Champion design strategy, leveraging existing products and brand equities while introducing new products and innovation where appropriate.
• Coordinates the efforts of DTC, marketing, product management and design to test and develop new products.
• Understands who the consumer is across the different channels of distribution and designs product to fit the consumer's needs.
• Creates designs that are clearly different from the competition with a distinct reason for being.
• Keeps abreast of consumer needs and trends and supports the integrity of the lines/brands and the goals of the company.
• Builds, develops and retains best-in-class designers that produce design sketches and make seasonal presentations of product designs.
• Reviews all styles for construction and approves quality of samples for full scale production.
• Embraces and evolves the line design and development calendar for product design and development, in part by developing deep partnerships between all participants in the development process.
• Works with Product Management and Brand Marketing to develop seasonal big ideas and marketing campaigns.
• Provides feedback to visual merchandising on ways to display the product
• Creates new processes and procedures to improve the quality and efficiency of the design process.
• Demonstrate a passion for the brand and cultivate collaboration across Product Management, Sales, Global Merchandising, Regional Design leads, Brand Marketing and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred or Equivalent Experience
• At least 15 years of relevant design or product development experience in a fast-paced, product-oriented, consumer driven company, demonstrating proven career growth and increased responsibility.
• 10+ years of significant leadership positions
• Activewear industry experience
• Effectively uses and learns new technology
• Strong influence skills
• Understands consumer trends, product design and product development
• Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail
• Demonstrated knowledge in current trends and the ability to interpret trends
