Job DescriptionThe University Press of Kansas Acquisitions Intern will assist UPK's Acquisitions Department. The intern will have the opportunity to learn about scholarly publishing and get hands-on experience in a relaxed, but professional work environment. For this competitive internship, applicants must provide an academic writing sample (at least 5 pages long.)
Applicants for this position must be able to work a regular schedule of 10-20 hours a week and must remain enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at KU during the Spring 2024 semester or pre-enrolled for the Fall 2024 semester.
Job Duties:
25% Review proposals, evaluate manuscripts, and respond to submissions
25% Prepare projects for the Production Department and evaluate author-submitted art
20% Identify peer reviewers for submissions and prepare peer-review documents
10% Attend in-house and editorial committee meetings
10% Research potential book ideas and authors
10% Other duties as assigned
