Purpose
The Tube Mill Analyst will establish, improve, and manage a reliable supply chain of tooling components for our mechanical seamless tube mills by inventorying, ordering, receiving, and modeling consumption of said components. The Tube Mill Analyst will identify triggers for order placement and proactively improve the supply chain of our tooling to increase the ability to generate accurate setups for our machinery, thus increasing the probability of first-time right quality for our seamless tubing at TimkenSteel. They will be asked to help troubleshoot problems during manufacturing at the tube mills along with resolution of problems at our vendors and billet suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Managing inventory levels and placing purchase orders for rolls, shoes, guides, mandrels
  • Maintaining physical inventory counts, reporting of consumption, and evaluating lead times for tooling
  • Mandrel bar repair and fabrication through vendors
  • Shoe and plug inventory leveling through new and refurbished tooling
  • Directing assignments for mill associates on receiving, inventorying, and invoicing for tooling
  • Continuous improvement efforts for quality/costs/throughput
  • Planning, scheduling, and conducting trials for tooling throughout the mills
  • Onboarding of new suppliers as identified through joint work with purchasing
  • Troubleshooting of mill quality and production issues
  • Aiding in billet supply and cutting through our carbide saws
  • Fill in Tube Mill Supervisor as needed

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 7 years of experience in supply chain management, machining, or manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in supply chain management or related with 4 years of experience in supply chain management, machining, or manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in supply chain management or related with 2 years of experience in supply chain management, machining, or manufacturing.
