Job Description:

Reporting to the Logistics Manager and working with a supportive, fun and helpful team, the Trade Compliance Specialist will be responsible for managing Trade Compliance (Export/Import), denied party screenings system, compliance training, managing variety of cross border requests, tariff classifications, US Trade Agreements, logistics compliance projects/audits, programs and initiatives aligned with operational goals to reduce overall costs, ensure compliance, and serve internal and external customers. If you enjoy interacting with other departments to make improvements to operations, negotiating with outside vendors/carriers and service providers to improve overall international freight and logistics costs, and improving key service metrics related to customers' orders: on time delivery, customs clearance, documentation, please apply to this fantastic opportunity!

Job Tasks

• Implement work processes to ensure customers' expectations around Trade Compliance processes and documentation are met
• Manage international logistics freight and compliance projects in support of overall company goals
• Manage Export/Import Compliance manuals
• Develop and maintain relationships with logistics and supply chain partners including freight forwarders, brokers, and carriers
• Schedule international freight shipments including air and ocean modes of transit and work with freight forwarders, brokers, customers, and internal parties to ensure on time delivery of orders
• Support international shipments managed by customer service and Export/Import strategies
• Seek continuous improvement through periodic assessments/audits
• Occasionally back up daily tendering in Transportation Management System

Competencies

• Ability to manage multiple projects/actions at once is highly desirable
• Ability to read/understand customs rules and regulations to provide direction/training to multiple levels within company
• Good negotiation skills, sense of urgency and ownership
• Ability to build and maintain good relationships with internal and external partners including freight forwarders, brokers, brokers, government agencies and multiple company departments/divisions
• Good business sense to understand costs and tracking results
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to solve complex situations with short lead times daily

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licensures, and Certifications)

• Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required with Trade Compliance 6+ years' experience
• Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and SAP experience
• Extensive knowledge of Export/Import international logistics, trade agreements and tariff classifications
• Trade Compliance 3+ years' experience
• Experience in leading projects

Work Environment / Physical Demands / Travel

• Work location is office based
• Due to 24/7 operation, some work-related issues may require attention after normal business hours and weekends
• Minimal travel required
