Job Info

The Turner lab (jrturnerlab.com) is a dynamic environment where we study diseases related to the essential tissue barriers that protect us from the world and develop therapies that regulate these barriers. This is particularly critical within the gastrointestinal tract, where the normal barrier limits interactions between the microbiome and immune system. Gut barrier defects are associated with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), food allergy, celiac disease, graft-versus-host disease, and a wide range of other systemic and gastrointestinal disorders. Our studies take advantage of mouse and in vitro models and a broad range of cutting-edge tools, including computerized image analysis and superresolution microscopy.

While we study biological barriers, we strive to eliminate systemic barriers and grow our culture of inclusion, innovation, continuous learning, and creativity. All who strive to improve the world through biomedical research are welcome; especially members of communities that are underrepresented in science. We are committed to the foundational values of equality, fair consideration of all viewpoints, and willingness to participate in challenging conversations.
