GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The self-motivated applicant will work in the Dettmer Lab within the Department of Neurology, Ann Romney Center for Transformative Research, Brigham and Women's Hospital. This group studies the basis of neurological disorders such Parkinson's disease, Lewy Body Dementia and Multiple System Atrophy using techniques in cell biology, biochemistry, high-content imaging, microscopy, human genetics and lipid biology. The position will focus on understanding the molecular basis of neurological disorders. The ideal candidate will at first work under close supervision and then more and more independently. She/he will execute protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. The qualified candidate will develop modification of existing techniques, as appropriate. In collaboration with other members of the research team, he/she will give more and more input to research design and will calculate, transcribe and graph data. The position offers a unique opportunity to expand research methodologies within the rich scientific community of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
