The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) is located in the Southwestern Alaska town of Bethel, with a total of approximately 6,000 people. YKHC supports 1500 employees, providing the health services to a primarily Yup'ik Eskimo Native population for an area the size of Oregon. Services are provided through a Bethel located hospital and 50 clinics throughout the YK Delta.

Position Summary:

To provide quality patient care on an ongoing basis. The Certified Nursing Assistant provides basic care to patients and assists with ADL's. Supports the Long Term Care philosophy, goals and objectives. Is responsible for care elderly residents or residents of any age residing in the Long Term Care Facility.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum Experience: Experience preferred, but will train on the job.
  • Licensing/Certification:
    • Must have completed a CNA course within the past 12 months OR be currently certified in another state.
    • Must be eligible for Alaska State certification and able to receive Alaska State certification within the first 90 day probationary period from date of hire.
    • The employee will not be retained at the end of the 90 day probationary period if employee is not able to attain Alaska State CNA certification.
  • Equipment/Tools: Office machines (i.e., multi-line telephone, computer, fax machine, etc.) Medical equipment such as Dynamapp, thermometers, Datascope, Pulse Oximetry
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
    • LANGUAGE SKILLS Bilingual Yup'ik/English, good human relations and oral/written communications skills.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
    • REASONING ABILITY. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
