Role Summary

  • Create a new stand-alone Tax function in Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope ("OBE" or "the Company") to ensure full tax compliance across the organization
  • Implement required tax processes, reporting and systems, including coordination and oversight of various service providers
  • Provide tax planning and support to enable the business strategy
  • Develop, implement, and lead a tax strategy to support and enable continued business growth

Here's What You'll Get to Do:
  • Lead the tax transition from interim tax support to the development of a stand-alone Tax function at the Company
  • Create, implement, manage, and communicate all required tax processes, systems, and policies to ensure full tax compliance with US and international tax requirements
  • Build and manage a commercially focused tax team grounded in continuous improvement while maximizing tax efficiency
  • Become a trusted partner to the business on all global tax matters; foster and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across functions and business units, including external advisors
  • Develop and lead a commercially focused tax strategy to optimise tax efficiency opportunities and transfer pricing to support business transparency and growth
  • Proactively work with finance and treasury to lead tax forecasting and historical provision process
  • Manage the quarterly and annual income tax provision computations for domestic and foreign subsidiaries in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Identify and evaluate potential tax risks, including new legislation, and work closely with the business units to implement solutions to mitigate such exposures
  • Manage relationships with tax authorities and external tax advisors
  • Oversee indirect tax compliance (sales, use, excise, VAT and other taxes)
  • Conduct tax research, as needed
  • M&A due diligence and integration
  • Assist Senior Management with tax planning ideas including structuring, acquisition/start-up analysis, and tax due diligence of potential targets
  • Oversee preparation and filing of personnel property tax returns, abatements, and accruals.

Here's What We're Looking For:
  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting is required for this position along with six to eight years of experience in a tax role.
  • Preferably Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Relevant experience operating in large and complex global organisations and preferably also within private equity companies
  • Significant knowledge and experience in direct and indirect US tax
  • Experience of setting up of tax processes, systems and policies
  • Strong competence in tax reporting
  • Knowledge and experience of transfer pricing requirements and BEPS actions
  • Proven track record of leading and developing a team
  • Working with cross-functional teams and different business stakeholders
  • Confident communicator, able to interact with a variety of different stakeholders
  • Commercially minded, and pragmatic - able to identify risks and deliver solutions
  • Confident decision maker - can evaluate the options and understand the business needs
  • Proficient in Excel and MS Word skills. Expert level a plus.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.
