PRIMARY POSITION FUNCTION/SUMMARY:
Develop new and integrate existing technical and data management systems in support of the instructional, research, and administrative functions of Gies College of Business (and other campus units supported by Information Technology Partners).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Systems Integration (50%)
a. Develop web/integration services to improve functionality, accessibility, data sharing, and visualization in and/or among the various data, communications, and application systems. These systems include but are not limited to Canvas, Zoom, Coursera, Salesforce, Slate, FormBuilder, Kaltura, and Banner/EDW.
2. Systems and Workflow Development (30%)
a. Develop applications and systems as needed to meet the needs of the college, within standard practices and frameworks.
b. Design applications and systems that facilitate effective scaling of college academic programs.
c. Work with college staff to design workflows (including needed technology systems) to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
3. Database Management (10%)
a. Design databases to ensure data access, security, and efficiency.
4. Systems Strategy and Support (10%)
a. Collaborate with team members to develop a technical vision informed by a deep understanding of user and organizational needs and other factors including usability, performance, security, data availability, and quality.
b. Participate in technical requirements gathering and stakeholder management activities.
c. Provide Tier 2 support and troubleshooting on college applications and systems.
d. Assist in planning, research, purchasing, and implementation of vended software services and products.
e. Follow software development lifecycle standards, including appropriate documentation and security concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Required: See required experience for education information.
Preferred: Computer science degree
Experience:
Required: Two years of professional-level IT-related experience which includes systems development and/or programming. College course work which included Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 60 semester hours or Associate's Degree equals one (1) year, 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor's Degree equals two (2) years.
Preferred: Experience with .NET/MVC/C# programming frameworks. Experience with systems integrations with cloud software platforms. Experience with API integration. Experience with LTI and LMS integrations. Experience with database design and management (SQL Server or other). Experience with data reporting and visualization. Experience with software version control (such as Git, TFS, or SVN). Experience with UI/UX for applications. Experience with University of Illinois data management systems (including Banner/EDW).
SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This is a full-time Civil Service IT Technical Associate position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
