The SVP and General Manager, Champion North America will report to the President of Global Activewear and be based at our company headquarters in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The role provides leadership, direction and strategy for the Champion North America activewear business. The SVP of Champion North America will oversee the overall operations of the North American Region and play an integral role in setting the global strategic direction of the Champion brand. The SVP will oversee execution of the brand strategies and be responsible for the brand's financial performance, the S&OP processes, sales, marketing, design, product development, merchandising, and logistics, and will develop new business and ensure profitability.

Champion plays a crucial role in the company's Full Potential plan. The company plans to grow Champion brand sales by at least $1 billion over the next three years by focusing on innovative new products, driving growth in online channels -- led by champion.com -- and expanding in key geographies in North America, Asia and Europe.

Responsibilities

KEY AREAS OF FOCUS

  • Controls and directs the activities of the business, including developing both the short-term and long-range business plans and strategies to meet Champion's financial and strategic objectives while adhering to our brand guardrails
  • Builds relationships with key customers and prospects through the understanding of individual customer needs and requirements and identifies appropriate sales distribution for Champion's product
  • Leads and communicates a clear and measurable 3 year sales plan for the region that is aligned with corporate sales and marketing strategies
  • Oversees Champion Growth Teams and directs all aspects of design, product development and regional merchandising including line framework
  • Collaborates with Regional and Global Merchandising and Planning teams to determine the appropriate product assortments and local market requirements
  • Ensures effective forecasting in the region through active participation in S & OP processes
  • Has a digital first marketing focus
  • Sets the brand marketing and media investment and then partners with the Brand Marketing team to ensure implementation of agreed corporate and regional marketing programs which deliver a consistent brand message
  • Develops a robust innovation culture that enables compelling product pipelines
  • Maintains a competitive landscape perspective while embedding a challenger brand mind-set
  • Ensures SKU management, productivity and lifecycle management while managing operating costs and inventory investment
  • Identifies product risks and opportunities and, when appropriate, gap analysis and action planning and effectively communicates to relevant parties

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • 15+ years of proven General Management experience in managing sales, marketing, retail and/or operations
  • Industry experience in apparel, retail, manufacturing, or consumer packaged goods preferred
  • Strong track record of driving growth
  • Knowledge of the key stakeholders in the apparel/footwear/sports industry
  • Passion for Product
  • Systematic/process driven approach to managing sales and operations
  • Demonstrated understanding of the apparel, manufacturing and retail markets, including trends in ecommerce
  • Demonstrated understanding of sports apparel customers, consumers and competitors
  • Demonstrated ability to effect change
