SUPERVISOR - MECHANICAL DESIGN
JOB SUMMARY
The Supervisor Mechanical Design is responsible for supervising a team of Mechanical Designers responsible for preparing and modifying detailed technical drawings for engineering projects and tasks. Responsible for the performance and results of the team and provides functional guidance to direct reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews drawing sets for adherence to company's graphical standards.
- Supervises designers and manages the workload of the design group, communicating closely with engineers, document control, project managers and line managers to provide engineering documentation in timely fashion.
- Maintains coordination with project design team leader and project engineers. Completes or supervises the completion of documentation for designs.
- Designs and drafts mechanical and electronic plans using computer aided design (CAD) equipment and software.
- Interfaces with the engineers of all disciplines to collaborate on moderately complex electrical and mechanical designs.

- Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/department; decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; thorough knowledge of department processes.
- Point person to resolve issues elevated by support staff.
- Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; contributes to the development of processes and procedures and ensure that employees operate within these guidelines; can make exceptions to some but not all processes and procedures.
- Typically does not spend more than 20% of time performing the work supervised.
- Has latitude for independent judgement and decision-making within defined guidelines.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Recommends staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company\'s values.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
HS diploma or GED required.
Two-year Associates Degree required.
Bachelors Degree preferred.
5 to 7 years of experience required.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
