Job Description:
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking a motivated and innovative Learning & Development Intern to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in designing and implementing training and development programs within a state government context. This position has the opportunity to work all year, with increased hours during school breaks if desired. This person will also receive professional development opportunities such as relevant workshops and conferences at no cost.
The successful intern will learn and demonstrate some or all the following duties and responsibilities:
•Set up virtual and in-person classroom events and environments for effective learning experiences.
•Create, prepare, and distribute digital and print materials and L&D marketing emails.
•Contribute to research and development of new/revised training topics, with an emphasis on new employee training.
•Gain hands-on "behind-the-scenes" experience with our Learning Management System (Workday) and other learning software to create and assign learning material.
•Track attendance and grades for classes, and pull data for classes from Workday.
•Collaborate with trainers and supervisors to support learners' growth.
•Support L&D trainers with additional administrative duties and special projects as needed.
•Facilitation of virtual (Web-Ex) and classroom workshops and/or trainings.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Must be a three-fourths student in good standing majoring in a discipline or field related to the work to be assigned.
Preferred Qualifications: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency OR experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.
Other: Applicants must be able to work at least 10 hours a week when classes are in session, preferably more. Temporary full-time employment may be available during scheduled school breaks. Valid driver's license or ability to provide independent authorized transportation. Regular and reliable attendance is also required.
