Position Overview:
This position provides leadership on crop insurance product delivery, regulations and policies. Manages relationships with Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs), develops new insurance products and acquires insurance agencies.

Essential Functions:

  • Meets with internal clients in the marketplace.
  • Work with clients regarding claims or processing issues.
  • Ensures crop insurance regulation, policy, and product guidance are being adhered to.
  • Responds to questions regarding underwriting processes and procedures.
  • Resolves problems related to the sales and servicing of crop insurance.
  • Answers questions regarding crop insurance paperwork.
  • Provides crop insurance training for Financial Officers and team members.
  • Provides training to organization team members and employees at other organizations on proprietary products.
  • Provides strategic input and perspective on the appropriate sales and delivery models for crop insurance products.
  • Negotiates commissions, volume commitments and rates with AIPs annually.
  • Identifies training opportunities and provides feedback on actions to make AIP products more marketable.
  • Identifies Approved Insurance Provider (AIP) products that are a good fit for the organization.
  • Researches, develops and recommends new insurance products.
  • Provides information and recommendations to senior leaders regarding crop insurance program growth, products, training and team member needs.

Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, business or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 10 years of experience working in crop insurance.
  • Management experience of people or processes.
  • Property and Casualty license.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • General knowledge of the Farm Credit System.
  • Expert knowledge of crop insurance regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining relationships with a variety of internal and external organizations and individuals to advance the organization's interests and increase personal efficiency.
  • Skill in negotiating complex agreements on insurance products to achieve the best outcome for the organization.
  • Skill in developing a business.
  • Skill in analyzing current business processes and identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement.
  • Skills in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex situations to internal and external clients, vendors and other agriculture business influencers.
