Salary/Position Classification

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the Starbucks store within a licensed retail location.
  • Train, and supervise a team of baristas to ensure high levels of customer service and operational excellence.
  • Trained to manage inventory levels, including ordering and receiving products, and ensure product freshness and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with Starbucks and licensed retail policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain a safe and clean store environment, including enforcing food safety, health, and safety standards.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team.
  • Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues.
  • Communicates information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary
  • Assists with new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed.
  • Follows Starbucks operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that partners can locate resources and product as needed.
  • Prepare food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers, including recipe changes such as temperature, quantity of ingredients or substituted ingredients
  • Available to perform many different tasks within the store during each shift
Required Competencies
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed
  • Able to stand on one's feet for 3-4 hours.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work with the preparation and disposal of fish, poultry, beef, lamb, pork and other meat products in professional culinary commercial kitchen.
  • Must be able to adhere to all safety and sanitation policies which include removal of all jewelry and piercings except for a plain wedding band while working in our facilities.
  • Hairnets and beard restraints are a requirement in our food preparation areas
  • Incumbents should have an optimistic attitude, willingness to learn new skills, high degree of integrity, and a strong work ethic
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Records Check
Minimum Requirements
  • 6 months of experience in retail or food service management, preferably in a coffee shop or similar environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team to achieve sales and operational targets.
  • Knowledge of coffee and coffee-making equipment, as well as food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Familiarity with POS systems, Microsoft Office, and inventory management software.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
