Overview

LRP Media Group, an innovative media giant that has been in business over 40 years, is looking for a digital-first Education Staff Writer for District Administration and University Business.

The Education Staff Writer will join our established team to produce daily content of K-12 and higher education topics such as education technology, cybersecurity, student safety and success, student learning loss and social-emotional learning. The goal is to ensure content is data-driven, innovative, and relevant, serving our target audience of K-12 and higher education leaders across the country with information and products that offer practical solutions while driving traffic and raising awareness about LRP's webinars and national conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Create daily content for DistrictAdministration.com and UniversityBusiness.com, including in-depth pieces for print, and short stories and profiles for the web
  • Develop sources, network, and build relationships throughout the industry
  • Manage editorial projects as needed
  • Develop a prominent role on social media as a leading expert in the field, promoting his/her own content as well as others' and engaging with the audience
  • Travel to and cover industry conferences throughout the year
  • Other duties as assigned


Position Requirements

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, digital-first media environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications/Journalism or related
  • Three years of work experience as a writer or editor
  • Strong writing, editing and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with AP style, WordPress, digital tools
