The Staff Electrical Engineer will be relied upon as a hands-on interdisciplinary contributor in a fast-paced sustaining team that is supporting Cepheid's medical diagnostic instrument platforms. The primary responsibilities will be leading platforms' Electrical sustaining project(s) focused on diagnosing and resolving technical issues. Issues may arise from both internal and external customers, including, but not limited to Product Lifecycle Management, Supply Continuity, and Design for Manufacturability. The role focuses on medium and high-complexity issues requiring a quick turnaround time and providing key feedback to the New Product Development team.

This position is part of the Instrument Technical Project team and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA facility - Hybrid. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Meticulous and timely create test protocol, test execution based on approved test plans, and conduct data analysis to gain insight into the quality and reliability of the changes.

  • Participate in cross-functional project teams with scientists, technical support, and other engineers to create new and resolve determined root-cause issues and collaborate/perform/lead with other team members in the verification, validation, and Change Order submission and implementation of the redesigns.

  • Participate in dFMEA, requirement reviews, design verification, and design transfer to production within Cepheid's quality management framework.

  • Works directly with 3rd party testing organizations off-site to ensure proper conformance to test standards and methods, timely project completion, and resolution of testing issues.

  • Performs and supervises the testing of products and determines compliance with agency standards.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree in the Electrical Engineering field or related field with 8+ years of electrical engineering experience OR Master's degree in field with 6+ years of electrical engineering experience.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • A similar level (Staff or Principal Engineer role).

  • Experience and knowledge of ISO/FDA-regulated industry.

  • Medical Products industry experience.
