Meet the team:

The Dexcom Analytical Science Team is looking for a Staff Analytical Scientist with expert level experience in analytical method development, method validation, specification development, analytical instrument maintenance, repair and troubleshooting and timely problem solving. In particular: Extractables and Leachables (E&L) experience and polymer characterization are sought after.

Where you come in:

  • You will lead the design, development, and validation of analytical test methods applicable to medical device applications.
  • You will serve as a SME or tech lead in a cross-functional team driving technical solution or decision pertinent to analytical matters.
  • You will work with cross-functional teams to organize in-take as well as providing advice on raw material supply, biocompatibility, safety, scalability and other operation related design inputs and consultation.
  • You will assist in the buildout of Analytical Services at Dexcom including implementing best practice and mentor junior staffs.
  • You will identify critical material and process attributes, develop, and implement analytical instrument and test methods for in-process and material quality control under Dexcom QMS systems.
  • You will apply design of experiment and statistical analysis to drive the evidence-based conclusion and recommendation, author technical report and protocol, present results for stage-appropriate technical design review and decision making.
  • You identify, procure, and qualify analytical instrument and manage external CROs to support the business needs.
  • You understand and apply basic laboratory safety protocols, chemical hygiene, and dispose chemical waste according to company and local EHS regulations.

What makes you successful:
  • Experience in biotech or medical device industry with emphasis on analytical and material characterization
  • Ideally someone with extensive mass spectrometry experience, in particular HPLC-QToF/ or other high resolution mass spectrometers for analysis of volatile, semi-volatile and non-volatile organic Extractables & Leachables samples.
  • Serve as study director for E&L studies, including drafting protocols and assembling data into final reports.
  • Must be knowledgeable of analytical techniques and instrumentation for polymers and composites, able to elucidate polymer structure-properties relationship and process impact.
  • Experienced in method development and method validation in a pharma or medical device setting, familiar with relevant standards and guidance such as ICH, USP.
  • Hands on experience and familiar with GPC, GC/MS, HPLC, LC-MS/MS, NMR, FTIR, Headspace GC, ICP-MS, instrument troubleshooting and repair.
  • Understands polymer characterization and can run MDSC, TGA, TMA, Rheometers, Viscometers and Instron.
  • Ability to mentor, develop current and future staff, and work in a matrix environment.

Experience and Education

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 8-12 years related experience or Masters degree and 5-7 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 2-4 years of experience.

Exempt Salary Details:

  • The annual base salary range for this role is $111,100 to $185,100. Final compensation package will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, business needs and market demand.
