Purpose and Scope:
This role exists to create and coordinate the documentation and verification for assigned customer orders in an efficient and timely manner to meet demanding on time delivery and Just In Time (JIT) production requirements.

This position structures routine to moderately complex domestic and international shipments for customer orders to minimize transportation costs, ensure customer satisfaction, and support Demand Planning and Customer Relationship Management through effective communication, timely feedback, and execution of shipment planning activities.

Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that orders are prepared and shipped in a timely manner to meet promised delivery dates following TimkenSteel standards. Analyze daily the Shipping Open Order Status report & WIP system to advise the customer service rep (customer care), customer, and district sales office of issues that would delay shipments.

2. Utilize LOGIS Planning System and knowledge of customer requirements to provide feedback for more effective planning and manufacturing activities by Demand Planning.

3. Analyze status of orders and proactively work with Demand Planning to resolve manufacturing issues and expedite/prioritize material needed to meet delivery requirements and shipping quotas.

4. Investigate order entry or operations errors before shipping the product to the customer. Research and resolve inventory discrepancies that appear to be duplicates to get orders completed to the customer and inventory cleaned up. Responsible to make sure all metallurgical, credit, customer, and overage/shortage releases are cleared before shipment is made.

5. This position will be in constant communication with customer service reps, some customers, district sales offices, and operating personnel. Must coordinate shipments for all steel plants and off-site. warehouses. Determine what orders and quantities should be on each truck or rail load. If portions of the load are located at multiple facilities, this position will analyze the most efficient way to handle the loading, minimizing time and cost.

6. Work closely with Shift Supervisors and Department Managers to determine priority of orders to be prepared for shipment. Utilize departmental task lists to schedule cutting of samples, splitting bundles, moving steel, & loading of railcars. Expedites preparation of shipments to meet customer emergencies and promised ship dates.

7. Structure loads in the most efficient, cost effective manner to satisfy customer requirements and reduce costs to TimkenSteel Corporation. Minimize split pickups, light truck loads, and light railcar loads to eliminate extra costs and the inefficiencies that result from these occurrences. Particular attention is given to weight restrictions for specific destinations to allow the carrier to remain within legal load limits and meet customers handling equipment limits.

8. Confirm orders are shipped with proper regard to blocking, tagging, and loading instructions. Provides consultation and problem solving of customer complaints related to administrative errors.

9. This position will assist customer service reps, on proper shipping methods for international freight, and information required on orders and Export Booking Requests (EBR's). Advise and help correct orders when wrong information has been entered upstream. Create and analyze EBR's for accuracy and coordinate with Freight Forwarders for proper shipping and handling methods. Provide problem solving support for issues related to International freight shipments before and after shipment is made.

10. Stay current on regulations and maintain compliance with International Shipping Documentation and applicable trade requirements.

Key Technical Skills:

  • Computer literate with good keyboarding skills
  • Shipping/Logistics or customer service experience
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

Minimum Qualifications : High School Diploma with at least 3 years of experience in customer service, shipping/receiving or related.

Preferred Qualifications : Associate degree in Business or related field with at least 1 year of experience in shipping/logistics.

Relocation will not be offered for this position.
