*Requirements:* Upstream Process Development, Viral Vectors (AAV, Lentivirus/Adenovirus), Suspension Cell Culture, Viral Production and Process

Well-funded biotechnology company focused on accelerating drug discovery and developing novel therapeutics for various genetic diseases and cancer. We leverage cutting-edge genome editing technologies and have established proprietary ex vivo genome-editing for hematopoietic stem cells and T Cells, in vivo therapeutic platform based on RNA base editing, and high-throughput genome-editing screening to discover novel, targeted therapies.

With a brand new location in Waltham, MA, we are looking for bright and talented individuals to join our team of industry experts.
What You Will Be Doing As a Sr. Scientist for AAV upstream process development, you will be a crucial member of the AAV group for AAV manufacturing strategies for our leading projects. You'll lead upstream process development activities for producing recombinant AAV vectors via cell culture. You'll be responsible for characterizing, developing, and optimizing robust, scalable, and highly productive cell culture processes. The developed upstream processes will be tech-transferred to CDMOs/CMOs for AAV manufacture. You will also lead junior members for upstream process development and write and review key process documents.
Responsibilities:
- Lead upstream process development studies, including screening of cell lines, media/feeds, and transfection reagents, optimization of the transfection and the seed train processes in well-plates, flasks, benchtop-scale bioreactors, and single-used bioreactors
- Employ engineering principles to define process parameters, ranges, specifications, and control strategies for robust, scalable, highly productive cell culture processes
- Write and review key process documents, including process description, technical reports, batch records, SOPs, and patent applications as appropriate, and contribute to regulatory submissions and query responses
- Stay current on industry trends to drive innovation and efficiency in continuous process and platform improvement
- Maintain timely, effective, high-quality, and appropriate documentation in electronic lab notebooks
- Lead upstream process tech-transfer activities to contract manufacturing organizations
- Supervise/lead junior members and collaborate within AAV groups and cross-functional teams
What You Need for this Position - Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biotech, or related disciplines
- 3+ years of upstream process development working with viral vectors (AAV, lentivirus, adenovirus)
- Suspension cell culture at different scales (well-plates, flasks, benchtop bioreactors, large-scale single-use bioreactors)
- Viral Production and Process understanding (AAV production and biology)
- Statistical methods and tools (JMP, Minitab, DoE, MVA) for experimental design, data analysis and visualization, and process development and improvements

Preferred/Bonus experience:
- Successful process development, process characterization, and validations
- Process scale-up/down, tech transfer to GMP manufacturing
- Applying systems biology approaches to enhance process understanding/knowledge for process development acceleration
- Automated technologies for process development (Ambr15/Ambr250, Tecan/Hamilton automated liquid handlers)
What's In It for You - Competitive Compensation (120-175K DOE)
- Comprehensive Benefits Package
- Generous PTO
- 401K match with financial planning tools
- Paid Life, LTD/STD
- Free parking, monthly subway pass, and/or subsidized commuter rail pass
