The Role:

This role is an exciting opportunity to be a critical part of the talent engine fueling a high growth organization that is radically changing the biotech industry. Reporting into the Director, Cloud Infrastructure, Moderna is seeking a Sr. Principal Network Architect with experience in designing and deploying global networks that tie together physical sites (campus, mid/small office, REGUS/WeWork) with AWS, GCP and Azure. The individual must have a proven track record in delivering hybrid solutions that are functional, secure, scalable, and reliable. The ideal candidate will have worked in the Life Sciences industry and understand the complexities of running regulated system in a cloud environment.

Here's What You'll Do:

  • Lead technical activities associated with the implementation of network hardware/software configurations of new systems and/or upgrades (both local and global) including planning, execution and closeout.
  • Work with other infrastructure teams in the development of SOPs and procedural documentation for the support and management of the network.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, ensuring that the performance and provisioning of services are meeting expectations. Assist with the management of vendor resources for specific projects/tasks.
  • Act as a first point of contact for new network infrastructure requests, translating business requirements into network solutions and planning/delegating delivery of these tasks in agreement with Digital leadership.
  • Build strong relationships with Digital management, staff, and stakeholders. Ensure personnel are updated on the status of infrastructure initiatives, and that relevant instructions are provided on the operation, support and troubleshooting of the business-critical solutions.
  • Design and build state-of-the-art technical solutions supporting a hybrid cloud of AWS, GCP, Azure and VMware
  • Ensure security is integrated into all designed solutions
  • Collaborate on solutions to support M&A and global expansion
  • Define/deploy mechanisms to monitor system integrity, protection levels, and security related events
  • Develop and document technical plans for disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Understand and adhere to Moderna operational processes following an ITIL framework to ensure auditability and compliance with industry standards (SOX, GMP, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
  • Support a 24/7/365 manufacturing operation

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • 10+ years of experience as a Network Architect or similar role
  • Expert level experience with network design, installation, configuration/provisioning and troubleshooting
  • Expert level experience with Cisco routing/switching/wireless and Palo Alto firewalls
  • Experience working in GxP regulated environments
  • Experience in designing for hybrid/multi-cloud across AWS, GCP, Azure and VMware
  • Expert level experience with routers, firewalls, switches, IEEE 802.1x, VPN, Wi-Fi, remote access, DNS, DHCP, IPAM
  • Expert level experience with EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and QoS
  • Strategic, but also pragmatic, detail-oriented and willing to be hands-on
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • Experience developing solutions for service monitoring, automated remediation, measuring availability and reliability, performance, analytics and security.
  • A passion for assessing emerging technologies and staying abreast of industry trends
  • Experience writing process requirements, technical design documents and standard operating procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • BS level technical degree or equivalent experience required; Computer Science or Math background preferred
