Your Role:

Develop and implement engineering solutions to internal customer problems and opportunities. Provide project management and engineering on small to large multidisciplinary capital projects from initiation through start-up and closure documentation. Provide support and mentoring to other engineering and engineering support personnel.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage and coordinate instrument assembly and implementation projects
  • Manage activities of local engineering team consisting engineers and technicians
  • Support capital projects at any designated US site and around the world
  • Responsible for total project budgets of up to $5MM
  • Support corporate capital expenditure budgets.
  • Manage and coordinate medium to large projects
  • Assist engineers and operations during startup and commissioning of large capital projects
  • Evaluate problems, identify opportunities and develop solutions
  • Develop project requirements and approximate costs
  • Manage capital project scope, budget, and schedule through project life cycle
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Manage necessary contractor services, material and equipment to support capital projects
  • Manage and coordinate project design and development of construction documents
  • Manage and coordinate construction phase of projects
  • Manage and coordinate startup, commissioning, validation and closeout of projects
  • Manage quality control objectives through all phases of projects
  • Attend seminars, conferences and training to maintain, expand technical expertise, and staying up to date with current trends in the field
  • Lead or support departmental process improvement efforts based on annual objectives

The position of Sr. Mechanical Engineer requires the ability to design new and improve existing equipment used to clean, dry, assemble and test specialty chemical containers for ultra-high purity products used in the semiconductor industry. The incumbent is expected to be the single point of contact for manufacturing support of assigned processes running 24/7. Responsibilities include, ensuring all safety and quality standards are upheld, monitoring process data real-time, troubleshooting equipment problems, initiating, and executing continuous improvement projects, updating process & system documentation, and coordinating preventative maintenance activities.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS Engineering required with MS preferred
  • 7+ years experience in a chemical production or custom manufacturing environment
  • Up to 20% travel, domestic and international

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise in container cleaning, drying, moisture analyzers, particle counters, leak detectors, cleanroom protocols and process control automation is desirable
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMI PMP) desired
  • Selfstarter
  • Ability to understand and provide direction to assure compliance with EMD Electronics and external regulatory agencies', policies, codes, standards and regulations.
  • Effective customer service skills
  • Effective oral and sound technical written communication skills
  • Effective interaction with other functional teams globally
  • Ability to clearly communicate to the senior management teams
  • Chemical production container process systems operation and upkeep. Provide technical and troubleshooting support to ensure all equipment and/or systems are operating and functioning properly
  • Design and specify new and replacement container process equipment
  • Regulatory and corporate standards compliance
  • Perform system optimization, upgrades and improvements utilizing continuous improvement and 6-sigma methodologies
  • Key member of container quality initiative team
  • Interface with internal and external customers using both written and verbal communication
  • Support investigating and resolving corrective action requests
  • Review and update process and operation documentation
  • Schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance activities
  • Effective project scope conceptualization skills
  • Effective, disciplined, and demonstrated documentation skills
  • Proficient in the use of standard office software and Solidworks
  • Ability to lead project teams and be able to mentor less experienced engineers
