Cradlepoint is the industry leader in providing Cellular WWAN solutions for IoT, Mobile and Enterprise customers that span LTE and 5G technologies, utilizing cloud-based services to enable management of millions of endpoints worldwide. We are looking for an Engineering Manager with hands on industry experience in embedded Linux and low-level networking to lead our Platform firmware team. You will be interacting and working closely with some of the finest developers and leaders in the industry - where you will find that work is both fun and challenging with ample opportunity to innovate. The successful candidate will lead and manage a small agile team of motivated and talented firmware engineers and will enjoy a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. This position will be instrumental in bringing up our Netcloud OS on new hardware and delivering the next generation of WWAN Cradlepoint endpoint devices.
Responsibilities

  • Leadership and management of a small Agile firmware team responsible for developing core services on new WWAN networking endpoints
  • Provide firmware technical expertise and guidance for embedded Linux integration, driver development and maintenance, including new hardware support, low-level networking features, control, and configuration
  • Provide technical project management skills using Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, product delivery schedules, status reports, issue tracking and resolution
  • Provide people management skills for engineering staff: development plans, performance evaluations, merit review
  • Collaborate across global software and firmware service teams and provide expertise and best practices
Qualifications
  • Minimum ten (10) years industry experience in R&D product development
  • Minimum five (5) years industry experience in program management and/or project management
  • Minimum five (5) years industry experience managing a team of firmware developers with responsibility to create and deliver new products
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Technical expertise with routers and general networking platforms (such as SOC, Linux platforms, firmware integration) required; technical familiarity with cellular modems/networks preferred
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills to triage and resolve issues with internal and external audiences
  • Excellent communication skills including global cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Highly organized, exceptional attention-to-detail, enjoys multi-tasking
  • Outstanding teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment (high energy and optimistic perspective)
  • Willing to handle tasks personally when resources are unavailable to delegate (cover whitespace)
  • Experience with addressing cross-functional issues impacting R&D efficiency and TTM, experience with managing external resources and vendors required
  • Experience in meeting performance, schedule, and cost goals
  • Fluent in project management tools and processes
  • Ability to seek product and process improvements via future planning, forward thinking, as well as tracking industry technology trends
  • Highly proficient in object-oriented design and design patterns using C/C++ and Python
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field, or technical equivalent, required
