OBJECTIVE

The Sr Director of Vendor Management's primary role is to manage and optimize relationships with Operations' vendors, suppliers and partners. This includes establishing the framework for vendor management and the ongoing oversight for vendors in our operation. The Sr Director of Vendor Management will establish day to day management and executive relationships with all key vendors, build a performance measurement system, establish escalations paths, business review routines and coordinate plans for the evolution of each vendor relationship. In addition, this role will work directly with procurement to assess vendors, negotiate SLAs, prices, penalties and establish routines for performance evaluation and corrective action as needed. The intent is to optimize performance, cost and efficiencies that best supports Wheel's objectives of getting the best quality service and products at a cost structure that meets our financial needs while building loyalty and satisfaction with our customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Owns, leads, and evolves operations vendor management function for Wheels
  • Establishes vendor management framework in partnership with Operations Leaders and Procurement.
  • Creates vendor oversight programs to ensure performance and service level expectations are met.
  • Builds and maintains key metrics for all vendors in scope that assess performance, quality, customer satisfaction, cost, etc.
  • Proactively monitors performance and identifies opportunities for improvement, efficiency and added value.
  • Facilitates the establishment of a multi-tiered relationship structure and a known escalation path for all key vendors.
  • Establishes a facilitates recurring business reviews with vendors to assess performance, opportunities, improvements and evolution of the health of the partnership.
  • Understands, documents and improves the customer journey we impose on clients and drivers as they obtain services from Wheels and our partner/vendor network.
  • Builds, maintains and tracks a forward-looking relationship plan with key vendors in partnership with Wheels functional leaders.
  • Partners with Functional Leaders and IT to digitize workflow with vendors where possible.
  • Researches and establishes relationships with new vendors when necessary.
  • Resolves vendor disputes or issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Reviews current vendors and analyzes goodness of fit.
  • Develops and sustains long-standing relationships with company-approved vendors.
  • Meets with suitable vendors to assess their products, inquire about their services, negotiate pricing, SLAs, and communicate any product or service-related concerns.
  • Conducts research on available vendors to determine which vendors offer the best pricing and product quality.
  • Partners with procurement to implement vendor selection programs to ensure that the best vendors are secured.
  • Conducts interviews with new vendors and informs approved vendors of their responsibilities and obligations.
  • Establishes standards by which to assess the performance of approved vendors.
  • Evaluates current vendor management programs and identifying ways to improve them.
  • Establishes standards and guidelines for vendors, monitoring vendors to ensure these policies are being followed.
  • Negotiates new and existing vendor contracts in partnership with procurement.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with vendors and drives continuous improvement in value, service delivery and the partnership.
  • Leads, manages and develops direct reports in alignment with strategic objectives of team, department and company.

OTHER DUTIES
  • Manages program of vendor management and provides plans, updates and status to organization and management team
  • Maintains knowledge of service industry, outsourcing and vendor management trends and best practices.
  • Assists in technology evaluations that can improve vendor performance and value.
  • Continuously monitors service delivery trends, technology and fleet management.
  • Organizes and tracks all documentation between the company and vendors.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY

This position will have 2 direct reports and is expected to grow a small team of analysts in accordance with demand and volumes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is in Alpharetta, GA or Des Plaines, IL. Due to the nature of the job responsibilities, the ability to work in the office is required with flexibility to work remotely as appropriate with manager approval.

POSITION TYPE/STANDARD SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday.

TRAVEL

Travel is limited and less than 25% required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree required in supply chain management, marketing, business administration, or a related field.
  • 5- 8 years experience working in vendor management.
  • Comfort with senior management
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong negotiation, management, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
