Job Summary:
This position is responsible for directing the short-term forecasting processes for the Renewable and Networks business segment within AVANGRID. Additionally, this role will support performance analysis and key performance reporting for the various Operating Companies within the business segment and other areas outside of Control. This position will lead financial analysis and research projects regarding business issues to provide top management with financial data and business advice to support the key business objectives. Total team including the Senior Director will be 16 individuals (2 employees reporting to the Senior Director).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs the corporate financial planning process including coordinating, designing, and communicating financial data to senior management. That includes the Budgeting and Revision processes.
  • Responsible for executing the Long-Term Plan with the Networks and Renewables CEO Presidents to internal and external financial commitments are delivered. This includes challenging and collaborating with the extended leadership teams to ensure corporate objectives are met and cost efficiencies are understood, planned, and executed upon.
  • Partner and challenge the Networks and Renewables President, Senior Vice President of Operations, Avangrid CEO and CFO, and VP of Investor Relations to understand the key financial drivers behind Networks and Renewables financial performance.
  • Lead the expansion and build out of the business performance function both from an organizational design and talent acquisition perspective.
  • Conducts assessments of Network and Renewable level performance as compared to corporate plans and goals. Guides plan changes and responds to plan inquiries from Business financial controllers and the business.
  • Accountable for the Networks and Renewables annual budget, monthly and quarterly forecasts for P&L, billings, cashflow, Balance Sheets and financial metrics, including owning the corporate revenue / billings plan and forecasting function.
  • Lead financial systems and process optimization, capturing efficiencies by simplifying data structure, streamlining workflows, and utilizing reporting.
  • Provide financial modeling, financial analysis, and valuation support for a variety of special projects that may include M&A, new business initiatives, external market analysis and other ad-hoc projects. Need to understand rate case and cost of service modeling.
  • Establish a highly collaborative, cross-functional relationships across the broader Avangrid organization.
  • Communicates financial results performance to both internal management and senior management.
  • Evaluate Avangrid's Risk and Opportunities around annual budgeting and forecasting processes by partnering with the business to understand financial and non-financial drivers impacting performance.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in finance and accounting.
  • Work closely with Functional Finance, Accounting, HR, and Business System, Data Analytic team, and Business operations to lead initiatives to continuously improve forecasting models and financial planning tools.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years of utilities experience or 15 years of broader financial experience, including financial analysis/modeling, finance transformation and corporate business accounting experience.
  • Exceptional communicator with ability to present concepts, recommendations, and analyses to executive team in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.
  • Experience managing finance organizations, staff, and strategic projects with organization-wide impact.
  • Ability to understand complex business drivers, produce high-quality analytics and communicate results effectively.
  • Experience aligning and driving cross-functional groups.
  • Superior problem solving and project management skills, with the ability to proactively manage numerous projects with competing timelines.
  • Proven track record of advanced analytical skills; must be able to define and execute key analyses with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience creating and implementing process and standardizing financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP), financial planning tools (Adaptive or SAC preferred), financial systems implementations, including strong demonstrated use of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Google tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Utilities experience highly preferred but not required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
