JOB SUMMARY:

The role of the Sr. Accountant is to support the operations accounting and financial reporting of the Garlock US site and the development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and financial information to evaluate operating performance. The focus is on results in terms of costs, budgets, trends and opportunities for profitability and key metric improvement. This role is also responsible for assignments in general ledger accounting including routine monthly and annual activities along with providing financial analysis and support to various functional groups within the organization.

  • Prepare, compile, and analyze month end, quarterly and annual financial statements. Provide in depth explanations for significant expense variances along with reviewing and reconciling balance sheet accounts to ensure balances are accurate and appropriate.
  • Assist and support the annual physical inventory, excess & obsolete inventory analysis and other various asset analysis tasks including capital project tracking and plant, property, and equipment management.
  • Establish and review material, labor and overhead rates and allocations for appropriateness and accuracy for standard costing. Ability to analyze manufacturing variances to ensure accurate production reporting along with inventory costing.
  • Ability to provide in-depth analysis of financial data to support business needs and inquiries. Develop or leverage periodic management reporting and analytical tools - product line / customer margin reporting, department budget analysis, working capital analysis, product line inventory reporting, and other varied key metrics to support operational tracking and improvement
  • Responsible for Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and reporting. Is responsible for preventing inaccuracies in financial statements by following internal control systems and adopting proper policies for financial reporting
  • Assist with the completion of quarterly and annual corporate schedules, the corporate tax package, annual audit requirements and other corporate requirements as assigned.
  • Promote a continuous focus on process improvements to gain efficiency and effectiveness of accounting and control processes and support implementation of related projects. Effective proactive thinker and ability to challenge the process.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum Qualifications: 3-5 years of experience accounting/finance in manufacturing environment
  • Ability to use multiple advanced functions and formulas within Excel such as Pivot Tables, V-look up, and Index formulas
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • MBA and/or CPA
  • 3-5 years of experience in cost/operations accounting
  • Proven general ledger experience
  • Familiarity working with a manufacturing ERP (Oracle and Onestream are heavily utilized in this role).
