Summary Statement

Provides oversight and coordination with officials for sports league play. Performs pre-game duties to ensure facilities are ready and safe for league play.

This position is open to all interested persons age 17 and older.

This position works up to 19 hours per week M-F 5-10pm.

Locations include Willow Lane, Fort Boise, and Ann Morrison.

This position is designated as At-Will.

Essential Functions

Provides oversight of league games to maintain fair play and promote good sportsmanship. Records scores and statistics during games. Coordinates with officials to ensure games begin at scheduled time. Greets customers and assists with registering them in various drop-in recreational programs. Collects customer fees and payments as needed.

Ensures the safety and well-being of all participants including checking floors and facilities for any safety issues or concerns. Inspects equipment and supplies to ensure they are in good working order and notifies supervisor when items need repair or replacement.

Prepares materials such as score sheets and supplies for games, and assists participants with player roster and pre-game assignments. Performs tear-down duties and ensures all equipment is accounted for.

Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.

Requirements

Three years' experience playing or coaching sports or one year officiating or supervising league programs.

Working knowledge of softball league play rules and regulations.

Ability to interact with coaches, officials, players, and other participants in a professional and courteous manner; enforce league play rules and regulations; keep score and limited statistics; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, and Training
Two years' experience coaching softball teams or officiating league play.

Special Requirements
All applicants must be able to successfully pass City of Boise background check processes which include reference checks and criminal history checks.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is rarely lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. Also the employee is rarely pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs. The noise level is frequently moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk and hear. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.

Working Environment
The work environment will include with areas of dust, odors, mist, gases or other airborne matter.
