VCA Veterinary Care Animal Hospital and Referral Center in scenic Albuquerque, New Mexico is seeking a board certified or residency-trained Veterinary Specialist to lead the Specialty Service at our AAHA-accredited, multi-doctor practice as Specialty Medical Director.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated Veterinary Specialist to move their career into an administrative position establishing the direction and medical quality of the hospital like an owner would, but without the risks of ownership. Plus, you'll have the solid backing of experts in Operations, Marketing, Human Resources, Payroll, and more, to help you succeed.

We encourage you to meet our comprehensive team which includes board certified specialists in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Critical Care, Radiology, Oncology & Ophthalmology. Additionally, we have full time General Practitioners, full time Emergency Doctors, and a current class of rotating interns engaged in surgery, internal medicine & emergency services.

Our generous referring community of veterinarians considers our hospital as the leader in veterinary specialty medicine in New Mexico. Our hospital is able to boast of referrals coming in from all around the state and we are committed to keeping that trust and those relationships alive through quality medicine and facilities that those referring veterinarians demand.

Our current sprawling, 22,000 sq. ft. facility features spacious work areas replete with the best tools of to be found in the profession. The facility possesses multiple treatment areas, a quiet ICU with segregated spaces for feline patients, 2 spacious surgical suites, 9 exam rooms, a comfort room, private doctors' offices, and a conference room with audio visual capabilities. Our cardiology/IM ultrasound suite is equipped with a GE Vivid 10 ultrasound unit and a GE OEC 9600 C-arm fluoroscopy unit. Also, to be found is a Phillips PageWriter Trim III ECG (twelve lead), Holter monitors, interventional cardiology catheter equipment and an HP Codemaster XL biphasic defibrillator. The architectural flow allows easy access to our Toshiba Aquilion Helical 128 slice CT scanner and two digital radiology suites. Our facility also possesses dedicated operating suites for ophthalmology, soft tissue, and orthopedic surgery. The internal medicine area has an ultrasound suite equipped with a GE Logic 10 ultrasound machine, endoscopy suite, and a dedicated chemotherapy room with hood. Our fully equipped and easily accessible in-house diagnostic laboratory is able to complete copious and timely accessions. In addition, VCA VetCare is in the final stages of architectural design and city permitting to increase our foot print in the upcoming future to relocate to a brand new 30,000 sq. ft., state of the art veterinary facility to assist in our hospitals growing needs.

Located in the northeast heights of Albuquerque, the Sandia Mountains provide a picturesque backdrop to our professional home. Albuquerque's high desert location provides 4 distinct seasons and mild temperatures year-round. Many of the city's locals consider autumn as their favorite season of the year and during this time Albuquerque hosts the International Balloon Fiesta. The event draws tens of thousands worldwide every fall for a visual spectacle not to be replicated anywhere else.
