A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) invites applications for a non-exempt Student Achievement Success Coordinator for year 3 and 4 students on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Achievement.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Assistant Dean of Student Achievement for Year 3 and 4 students to better prepare students for successful placement into graduate medical education programs.
  • Monitor, analyze, and make recommendations to help prepare students for professional and academic milestones.
  • Provide administrative support to the Assistant Dean of Student Achievement to ensure that students receive and optimally utilize student success resources.
  • Design, implement, and analyze a database that incorporates academic/professional student performance.
  • Prepare documentation beginning in first year for GME placement preparation including in assisting with review of all student records/documentation, adhering to timelines for all residency application and match related deadlines including the MSPE preparation and uploading process.
  • Assist the Assistant Dean of Student Achievement with helping guide students to maximize their success in years 3-4 to ensure academic and professional success and ultimately optimal residency placement.
    • Assist with tracking and assessing Year 3 and 4 student academic performance.
    • Assist with preparation and review of student individual portfolios/dashboards and student documentation related to residency for preparation of curriculum vitaes, personal statements, and ERAS applications.
    • Collaborate with the Associate/Assistant Deans of Curricular Integration, their coordinator and ATSU SOMA staff to ensure Year 3 and 4 students have access to available resources.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives in line with ATSU SOMA’s strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with the RDMEs and Associate and Assistant Dean of Innovation and Curricular Integration to develop and implement strategies with individual CHC cohorts to ensure students are well informed and prepared to perform successfully on national board examinations.
  • Collaborate with the Associate and Assistant Deans of Innovation and Curricular Integration and the Assistant Dean of Student Achievement to gather, track and analyze performance data for Year 3-4 students.
  • Assist the Assistant Dean of Student Achievement with helping guide all students annually to maximize their success in years 3-4 to ensure optimal residency placement.
  • Assist with assessing and tracking student academic performance and inform the tracking committee on Year 3 and 4 student progress.
  • Participate in ATSU-SOMA student teaching/faculty development as relates to Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Participate in ATSU-SOMA Strategic Planning as relates to student success.
  • Assist the Student Performance Committee Chair in planning meetings and coordinating with students.
  • Schedule Professional and Academic Development Sessions and assist the Assistant Dean of Student Achievement as needed with presentations.
  • Plan and coordinate year 3 and 4 Touch Base Sessions each year for each individual CHC partner site (16 total) with relevant stakeholders (e.g. Deans, RDMEs, Mesa Advisors, Student Affairs, Course Directors).
  • Assist with implementing AAMC Careers in Medicine and other available resources as needed annually for incoming and existing students; track utilization and provide feedback regarding utility.
  • Assist with preparation and review of student individual portfolios/dashboards and student documentation in Years 3-4
  • Collaborate with Student Affairs to ensure 3rd-4th year students have access to University-wide/Arizona-specific available resources and coordinate information sessions to meet COCA standards regarding Student Affairs support.
  • Collaborate with all the Deans, the UME department, and ATSU SOMA staff to ensure Year 3-4 students have access to pertinent, available ATSU-SOMA resources and strive to determine opportunities for additional student support.
  • Collaborate with the Deans of Clinical Education, Innovation and Curricular Integration and RDMEs to develop strategies with individual CHC cohorts to ensure students are well-equipped to perform successfully academically, on national board examinations, and with optimizing their residency competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Assessments and Evaluations to analyze and synthesize academic performance data, esp. as relates to Year 3-4 students.
  • Assist with updating the ATSU SOMA Professional Development and Residency Resources Site as relates to Year 3 and 4 Students.
  • Assist the Assistant/Associate Dean with preparation and delivery of presentations to students (and faculty advisors) on topics such as Social Media presence and professionalism, CV preparation, specialty highlights, and other topics as relate to ongoing professional development for Students in all 4 years.
  • Assist with preparation and review of student individual portfolios/dashboards and student documentation related to residency for preparation of curriculum vitaes, personal statements, and ERAS applications.
  • Work with the students in preparation of their Noteworthy characteristics for the MSPE.
  • Serve on committees at the discretion of the ATSU-SOMA Dean.
  • Assist with any needs regarding scheduling or other duties as needed by the Associate/Assistant Dean.
Skills/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or education.
  • Two to three years' experience working with health-related students; data analysis, organizational skills/ability to synthesize information and make recommendations, technology skills, works well with others.
  • Multi-tasking and ability to handle a large volume of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Effective communication skills with both students and faculty/administration.
  • Data analysis and organizational skills.
