Expedia's Conversational Platform & Customer Engagement Technology team is dedicated to driving technology innovation to create effortless customer experiences worldwide in Expedia Group apps, web sites, support channels, and contact centers via our Virtual Agent Platform. We support over 80 million customer interactions a year and over 12 thousand agents - across a global brand portfolio and workforce.

The Virtual Agent Control team is looking for a thoughtful and dedicated individual with experiences and skill sets that demonstrate a capability for delivering high quality, customer-facing features that meet platform and product needs. Our team is building out learning and intelligence services that power Expedia Group's Virtual Agents to make an amazing impact on customer needs in an optimal manner without needing human intervention. With your passion, technical skills, and effective communication, you will implement and affect solutions that drive customer effort down and improve customer self-service at Expedia.

As a Software Development Engineer III, you will propose, prototype, design, and implement an extensible React web application platform in collaboration with teammates. As a member of the team, you will provide the thought leadership and technical expertise needed to overcome hard problems. By now, you would have built and supported public-facing web applications that are interactive, performant, and at scale.

What you'll do:

  • Hold a passion for mobile-first UI development and pixel-perfect attention to detail

  • Experience optimizing web pages for performance

  • Turn recurring UX patterns into reusable UI components library with CSS/Sass

  • Participate in resolution of production issues and lead efforts toward solutions

  • Work with UX, Product Management, and Service Reliability teams in an agile environment

  • Technologies we use: Required: CSS/Sass, HTML5, JavaScript, React, Recommended: AWS, Docker, Datadog, Looker, Jenkins, Splunk, Figma

Who you are:

  • 5+ years of experience implementing UI components from technical designs and helping to drive engineering maturity

  • Problem solver and an excellent coder with deep understanding of CSS ecosystem, modular/component design for web development, CSS modules, and performance optimization

  • Passionate about quality of work, you are persistent and uncompromising

  • Bachelor's Degree (technical degree preferred) and 5+ years' experience or equivalent

  • Master's degree (technical degree preferred) and 3+ years' experience or equivalent related professional experience
