Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Maintenance Mechanic-Shift is to be a great Nucor team member who demonstrates high levels of ownership by safely performing Preventative and Corrective maintenance on the mill systems & equipment. This position is also expected to work with the team to propose and implement solutions to new and ongoing challenges in the steelmaking process, equipment, and business.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Mechanical Skills and Fundamental Knowledge

• Experience Troubleshooting Mechanical Systems

• 2 or more years in an industrial plant

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to work safely

• Hydraulic system knowledge and experience

• Pneumatic system knowledge and experience

• Gearing and Power Transmissions system knowledge and experience

• Lubrication system knowledge and experience

• Equipment alignment knowledge and experience

• Metal cutting, welding, fabrication knowledge and experience

• Operation of forklift, mobile crane, and/or other mobile equipment

• Experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment
