Summary:

Cox Media Group's SEO Analyst will lead the company's daily, short- and long-term SEO strategies to help increase referral traffic for our TV and Radio digital sites. He/she will collaborate with the Content, Product and Data Analytics teams to develop and distribute insights, measurements and reporting to appropriate persons while using this data to drive informed SEO opportunities, recommendations and action plans to maximize return on investment (ROI) in line with key performance indicators and global metrics. He/she should be an expert at SEO with a clear understanding of how to balance on-page and off-page optimization, including content generation and link building. This role takes `initiative to assess the impact of new products, search engine algorithm changes and subsequent releases on SEO best practices and procedures. This job reports to the Director of Audience Engagement & Optimization based in Atlanta.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Clear understanding of search algorithms and the confidence to implement these in short-term and long-term strategies.
  • Lead strategic direction and implementation of a solid SEO strategy using expertise in digital marketing, content, design, implementation and optimization techniques.
  • Use analytics to develop insights, drive informed and actionable business recommendations, and clearly communicate status against goals and objectives to senior management, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Determine what technologies are required to develop and successfully execute SEO strategies and goals.
  • Evaluate/manage outside vendors, suppliers and tools as needed to execute strategy.
  • Collaborate extensively with the Content, Product and Data Analytics teams to execute a best-in-class SEO program.
  • Execute cross-brand search engine optimization tactics, including keyword research, website optimization, off-site promotion and advanced link building (including relationship building with 3rd party websites), campaign performance tracking, and A/B testing.
  • Provide training to Content, Product and Data Analytics teams.
  • Serve as a liaison with software engineers, developers and others in Technology and Product to create new tools.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and inform leadership on any required changes.


What we look for

Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of successful SEO strategy and implementation.
  • Experience with keyword search, ranking, analysis tools and link building.
  • Familiarity with online SEO resources, tools, blogs, forums and professional organizations.
  • Knowledge and experience with technical aspects of SEO from optimal site architecture to proper coding of HTML and CSS to indexes and algorithms.
  • Have or develop a strong working knowledge of analytic tools such as Google Analytics, Chartbeat, Tableau, and similar tools.
  • Experience working in content management systems (CMS).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience writing optimized web page content, META titles and descriptions.
  • Prefer experience in managing multiple websites.
  • Ability to educate, communicate and present to team members at various levels within the organization.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to align efforts while collaborating across multiple departments.
  • A self-starter with professional integrity who thrives in an experimental environment, can work independently, make decisions quickly and take initiative.
  • Extremely organized. Must be able to multi-task, with a proven history of working quickly, efficiently and accurately under deadline pressures.
  • Experience in MS office & Adobe products (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Photoshop).
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Marketing, Internet Marketing, Website Development, Digital Media) is preferred, but 5 or more years of relevant work experience in SEO is an acceptable substitute.
