Job Description:

Overall responsibilities:

AKMS is seeking an engineer who has 1-3 years of semiconductor applications support related to the HVAC/CO2 sensing industry. This engineer should have a general understanding and excitement of NDIR technology and how gas composition effects IR transmissivity within the HVAC system. The ability to train and connect potential customers with the technology from AKM in person and remotely using Microsoft Teams is required. You will enjoy this position if you thrive in a small team environment with the ability to work on your own creating technical literature, training representatives of AKM, and speaking directly to customers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop hardware and software proof of concepts related to AKM's Gas sensor technology platforms adding value where possible
  • Support calibration software that is released to customers
  • Work with 3rd-party module design companies to make sure the customer requirements are met
  • Perform gas sensor component testing in the lab
  • Perform component and system level troubleshooting
  • Communicate with potential customers about technology requirements for future applications present information internally
  • Creating technical presentations, literature, and videos related to product technologies
  • Work closely with AKM engineering teams located in the US, Sweden, and Japan

Required qualifications:
  • BSEE or equivalent with 1-3 years' experience
  • Basic lab equipment knowledge, power supply, multimeter, oscilloscope, and soldering
  • PCB layout + schematic design using KiCAD or similar
  • Have solid technical ability in hardware / software
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Experience with customer relations/support
  • Strong problem-solving skills and desire to work in fast paced environment
  • Hands-on experience designing and debugging product
  • Systems engineering knowledge for creating complete electronic solutions is a plus

Additional preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in the HVAC CO2 Sensor market as an applications engineer
  • Track record within the semiconductor industry
  • Bilingual skills in Japanese and or Swedish

Work Environment / Physical Demands / Travel:
  • Office environment
  • Sits, walks, stands, lifts occasionally
  • Travel: 25% (1-5% international 20% domestic)
