General Summary Overview Statement

Incumbent will report to the MGH IS BRM Senior Manager. Work responsibilities include the management of one or more large, enterprise-wide projects; and the resources associated with these projects.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Develop project goals, objectives, approach, and scope through negotiation and diplomacy that result in a well defined, well sponsored project.

Develop workplan and timeline to meet project goals.

Develop IT strategies and solutions that comply with MGB IS standards and strategic directions.

Develop capital and operating funding requirements associated with a project. Manage project within allocated budget.

Primarily function as an autonomous decision maker, but recognize when the involvement of senior management is required.

Plan, manage and over-see project, utilizing recognized project management methodology including activities such as:

Definition of project scope and objectives

Management and status reporting tools

Feasibility and cost benefit studies

Requirements definition (functional and/or technical)

System testing/quality assurance

Training

Implementation

Post-implementation/on-going support

Project administrative activities

Documentation

Manage IS projects within the context of the larger environment including competing priorities, staffing levels, budgetary concerns. Provide appropriate and timely problem escalation reporting (and potential solutions if applicable) to both IS management, project steering committee, and executive hospital management.

Provide on-going project status reports to internal IS management, user groups, project steering committee and executive hospital management.

Negotiate and acquire enterprise-wide resources necessary to appropriately implement the project.

Establish and create a positive project environment through leadership and mentoring.

Provide quality customer service and serve as an exemplary representative of MGB Information Systems. On-going communication, feedback and follow-through with customers and executive hospital management is essential

Qualifications
Bachelor Degree required, Masters Degree preferred.

8 or more years experience in computer systems or healthcare preferred.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to cooperatively and effectively work with people from all organizational levels and build consensus through negotiation and diplomacy.

Ability to understand the enterprise environment and competing priorities in conjunction with developing/meeting project goals.

Ability to manage large, complex projects, their dependencies, team members, other resources and timeline; and to prioritize and delegate accordingly.

Ability to facilitate and work within a complex, multi-site environment.
