Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a talented Senior Project Development Coordinator t o join our diverse team of professionals. For the right candidate, this role can be seated in any US city where Wood has a presence.

The Senior Project Development Coordinator will support the delivery of large, multidisciplinary projects through their feasibility, permitting, pre-construction and/or construction phases with a specific focus on solar and energy storage projects. She/He will act in a supporting role to the overall senior project manager, managing discrete scopes that support the overall execution of the projects for the client. Whilst this role will have a particular focus on solar and energy storage project developments it may also include involvement in wind, transmission and hybrid projects.

The principal responsibilities of this post include:

  • Supporting senior project managers in the delivery of large and complicated renewable energy project development scopes for key clients in accordance with the pre-defined budgets, deadlines and quality requirements.
  • Manage the delivery of smaller, discrete and standalone scopes on renewable energy projects in accordance with the pre-defined budgets, deadlines and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate project environmental constraints identification and impact analyses, preparing NEPA Technical Reports such as community impact assessments, environmental justice and limited English proficiency analysis, parks and recreational resources analysis (including Section 4(f) evaluations), indirect and cumulative impacts assessments, feasibility studies, public involvement support, and other planning and coordination for renewable energy projects.
  • Coordinating scopes using internal and / or subcontracted Wood discipline experts including but not limited to:
    • Site survey and field work including topo, biological, environmental, etc.
    • Preliminary project design / layouts including energy yield assessments and hybrid system sizing and design
    • Geotechnical and hydrological investigation and modelling
    • Interconnection application creation and process management
  • Contribute to and manage projects in coordination with multi-disciplinary teams consisting of internal technical staff, as well as subcontractors, in all phases of the execution and delivery of environmental compliance and permitting requirements for renewable energy projects.
  • Regularly and accurately reporting the status of projects to senior project management.
  • Contribute to business development activities and assist in securing new opportunities for the company.
  • Participation at site visits and meetings in the USA
  • Ensuring health, safety and environmental considerations are integral to the delivery of projects and project tasks.
  • Disseminate knowledge and experiences to other team members and supporting the development of the team and team members.


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Planning, Environmental, Science, Engineering or Renewables-related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the delivery of engineering and / or scientific scopes of work; experience in an Engineering or Environmental Consulting firm preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience performing environmental planning and permitting work for renewable energy projects.
  • Strong research, analysis and reporting abilities.
  • Focused on detail-orientation skills and capable of managing large data sets.
  • Self-starting, team-oriented professional with excellent written and communication skills that can manage tasks for multi-disciplinary teams comprised of internal staff and subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with review and analysis of socioeconomic data, maps, and drawings.
  • Familiarity with Section 404 and 401 of the Clean Water Act (CWA), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), and other state and federal procedures, compliance, and regulatory permitting.
  • Experience and general understanding of the NEPA process including public scoping; identification and evaluation of alternatives; resources surveys and inventories; assessment of environmental consequences; public meeting and comment process; cumulative impact analysis; and response to comments.
  • Ability to prepare high quality, concise documents to convey project progress, status and financial information to internal and external project stakeholders
  • Excellent communication (written and spoken) in English, with the ability to engage and interface with stakeholders
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Valid driving license for use within USA
  • Willingness for occasional US travel
  • Must be US Citizen or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood.
