SUMMARY

The Senior Process Engineer located in Troy, MI will assist with developing and implementing manufacturing processes for HVAC's and Engine Cooling Modules in our facilities in Ohio, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Mexico.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop assembly process concepts for air conditioning and power train cooling module products. This includes lead development activities for the following main elements:
    • Review product designs and provide feedback to ensure optimal DFM conditions
    • develop assembly process concepts, assembly sequences, assembly time elements (MTM) and line balancing charts
    • complete capacity planning analysis to ensure customer requirements are achieved
    • develop assembly line layouts using AutoCAD to minimize footprint and ensure optimal material flow
    • determine appropriate use of automation to minimize labor cost
    • develop PFMEA to determine robust error proofing requirements for the assembly and test process
    • develop assembly and test line equipment specifications which meet both MAHLE and customer requirements
    • ensure that all applicable safety and ergonomic requirements and regulations are followed
    • manage project budget and timeline to ensure all objectives are achieved
  • Lead and manage design reviews, validation and runoff activities with assembly equipment suppliers to ensure that standards as outlined in equipment specifications are being adhered to
  • Support installation, start up and launch of assembly lines at MAHLE production location. Manage equipment suppliers onsite to ensure proper equipment function according to specification
  • Manage capital projects, budgets, cell layouts, development of equipment specifications, equipment purchase and validation.
  • Responsible for the research and development of future production equipment and production line launch preparation activities to support flawless program launches. Develop new equipment/process through RFQ process. Develop training package for new equipment. Reduce scrap and improve efficiency and cycle times for assigned processes.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or other 4 year related Technical Engineering Degree
  • 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering / Process Engineering, 7 Years of experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of production and assembly operations, end of line testing, automation and machine issues and plant operations day to day basis. High volume manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Strong analysis, problem-solving, process and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, including GD&T.
  • Basic knowledge of APQP disciplines, PFMEA, Process Flows, Control Plans, Machine Design and Man-Time-Machine studies (MTM)
  • Some experience with Measurement system analysis will be plus
  • Self-starter / Able to make decisions and perform job duties with minimal management input
  • Ability to manage time and organize effectively with multiple projects
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be able to communicate in written and verbal form within all levels of the organization.
  • Travel is required for this position both domestic and international up to 40%.
