RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in St. Louis looking for a Senior PostgreSQL DBA to join their team. This role will work in the office 3 days a week, with 2 remote days.Responsibilities:- Administer, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and upgrades
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to improve efficiency and reliability
- Develop and enforce database security policies and procedures to safeguard data integrity and confidentiality
- Utilize your expertise in DynamoDB AWS to integrate, manage, and optimize cloud-based database solutions
- Design and implement DynamoDB tables, indexes, and queries to support application requirements
- Monitor DynamoDB performance metrics and implement optimizations to enhance scalability and efficiency
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement effective data access patterns and models in DynamoDB
- Work closely with software engineers and architects to design database schemas, tables, and relationships that meet application requirements
- Provide guidance and expertise in database design best practices, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Evaluate and recommend database technologies and solutions to support current and future business needs
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices
- Generate reports and performance metrics to assess database health, performance, and capacity utilization
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on database status, performance, and potential issues
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator, including database design, installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Hands-on experience with DynamoDB AWS, including database design, implementation, and optimization
- Strong understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS) concepts and principles
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL programming languages
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services and infrastructure, particularly DynamoDB, EC2, S3, and IAM
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- AWS Certified Database - specialty certification
- Experience with other database technologies such as MySQL, Oracle, or MongoDB
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools for database automation and deployment
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
