Description:

The Senior Portfolio Analyst will assist the Director of Investment Advisory Services (DIAS) in the leadership of Investment Associates and Portfolio Analysts. The incumbent is responsible for providing high-level service delivery to Investment Advisers, intermediaries, and internal clients of the Wealth Management Division (IT, Audit, Trust Operations, etc.). The incumbent will lead projects related to process improvement, management of block trading across BMT (including strategic and tactical rebalancing of investment models), and assessment of trading and account management systems. The Senior Portfolio Analyst will collaborate with investment research leaders to monitor and oversee investment methodology across BMT. This position requires internal communications, including participation in select internal committee meetings; knowledge, understanding, and application of fiduciary and investment principles, including Reg 9 compliance requirements; knowledge of securities processing and clearing; knowledge of trust & accounting systems; knowledge of investment systems to support trading and performance analysis (First Rate and Investor’s View specifically) and technology to support recordkeeping and payment history (SunGard); and interface with Trust Operations Service Partners.

Responsibilities:

1. Directly support Investment Advisors on one or more advisory teams a. Monitor asset allocation, security selection and liquidity needs of clients to ensure that portfolios are managed in accordance with investment policy statements and client preferences.

  • Work with Investment Advisers to resolve compliance issues and ensure consistency with approved BMT strategies and policies.
  • Analyze accounts for model eligibility and work with Investment Advisers to assess capital gain/loss implications. Run and own the model adoption process by helping Investment Advisers complete model adoption documentation.
  • Place account specific trades where appropriate. Understand capital gain and loss implications.
  • Proactively monitor overdrafts for Investment Advisers. Analyze account holdings and suggest sales to raise cash, as needed.
  • Coordinate client meetings for Investment Advisers and assist in meeting preparation including pulling and reviewing client performance reports. Assemble packets for client meetings and customize them to the individual Investment Adviser’s needs.
  • Meet with and respond to clients under the direction of Investment Advisors
  • Act as a “go to” team member for reporting needs, system support questions and issues.
2. Demonstrate leadership in the Portfolio Analysis role
  • Lead process improvement efforts around support of Investment Advisors, trading and rebalancing activities
  • Coordinate block trading strategy and process for BMT models and strategies including strategic and tactical rebalancing
  • Delegate and oversee related tasks and oversee progress and completion
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Chief Investment Office and DIAS on implementation of BMT-approve strategies and solutions
  • Mentor team members and advise DIAS as appropriate on personnel performance
  • Work with investment services manager on investment related projects such as systems conversions, performance reporting issues, process improvement initiatives, etc. Be willing and able to run with assigned tasks with little to no supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • College degree and at least 3-5 years of experience in a trust department of a bank or with a financial services company. Desire to work toward CFA or MBA.
  • Master the use of all investment management systems including, but not limited to, Investor’s View, Trade View, First Rate, Morningstar, Factset and Sungard Addvantage.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge including use of functions, pivot tables, macros to analyze and assess information drawn from other systems.
  • Working knowledge of investment and portfolio management theory, along with a fundamental knowledge of financial planning principles
  • Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer outcomes
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and be organized.
