A role you will love

The Senior PLSQL Software Engineer will work within an Agile environment to develop and support internal applications. This role will design, code, test, debug and document programs using Agile development practices. In addition, this role will be part of delivery through the whole software development life cycle, including design, coding, automation testing, functional testing, and post deployment support.

Other Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Apply knowledge of standards, policies, best practice and organizational structure so that you can work both independently and collaboratively within your team and with key stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership with the software development life cycle, technical design, implementation, testing and deployment.
  • Program design, deployment, and ongoing Test Automation support.
  • Take ownership and have the ability to work independently.
  • Provide informal guidance and share knowledge with colleagues to enable them to contribute to the team's objectives.
  • Ensure the quality of tasks, services and information provided by your team - through the quality of your own work and the support you provide to others - to ensure that your team delivers high-quality, maintainable software which adheres to internal standards and policies.
  • Support the evaluation and resolution of technical challenges and blockers to minimize their impact on the teams' delivery and/or supported products.
  • Identify and support improvements and innovation in technologies/practices within your team that would benefit the business e.g. efficiency in the software development process or improved customer experience.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of technical and non-technical audiences to: share knowledge and ideas; provide updates; influence; challenge; and take on feedback.

What will you bring to the role?
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Oracle Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) development using advanced PL/SQL techniques, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Skilled in the development of PL/SQL Packages, Stored Procedures and Functions. Strong knowledge of database triggers and indexes.
  • Familiarity with reading Query Execution Plans with the ability to evaluate and improve performance characteristics of SQL.
  • Collaborates and communicates well, builds great working relationships, influences others, challenges effectively and responds well to challenge from others, shares information and ideas with others, has good listening skills.
  • Experience in working with SDLC tools such as GitHub, CI/CD, and Azure DevOps
  • Experience with GitHub version control or source code repositories.
Bonus points if you have:
  • Defensive programming; knowledge of basic security exploits including Cross site Scripting, SQL injection, and Secure Web Headers
  • Secure SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) methodologies experience
  • Experience with Waterfall and Agile project methodologies
  • UI development using React
  • Control-M job scheduling
  • Skilled in object-oriented programming languages, such as Java, and C++
