What You Will Contribute:
Badger Meter is looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Test Engineer at our Flow Instrumentation Facility in Racine, WI. In this role you will be working in our world class water flow lab developing and executing tests on Badger Meter flow technology products. This is a hands on role, working about 50% of the time executing testing and 50% providing analysis and insight to the development teams.
Main Duties:
- Executing mechanical tests based on existing procedures.
- Developing new test practices and procedures based on desired product performance characteristics.
- Collect, organize and summarize raw data to help draw conclusions and identify next steps.
- Developing and designing test procedures and fixtures for new product development projects, changes in design standards, and customer service evaluations.
- Responsible for evaluation of current lab capabilities relative to certification goals and developing/executing a plan to achieve certification.
- Working closely with Design Engineers and development team on product functionality and performance.
- Submitting accurate test reports and technical support to Design engineers, Manufacturing engineers and Quality.
- Qualification/audit accuracy testing of Badger Meter products as well as other products from within our industry.
- Participating in calibration of lab equipment.
- Assisting in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting lab system issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree
- 7+ years of experience in a hands on engineering role in product development or support
- Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Statistics Experience desired
- Uncertainty Analysis experience desired
- Solid foundation of engineering fundamentals
- Test lab experience desired
- Electrical and/or software experience desired
- Experience working with regulatory or certification bodies preferred
- Hydraulics or water flow experience preferred
- Ability to do the following on primarily independent basis: Define the actual problem, test multiple scenarios, troubleshoot test issues, implement appropriate solutions and communicate the results.
- Ability to operate on a manufacturing floor/lab 50% of the time
