POSITION PURPOSE

Provides senior level branded design solutions for SJMHS Regional Brand. Lead in-house designer who provides local and regional guidance to in-house Brand Design Specialists. Working with Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Marketing Director, enforces Brand Standards through Style Guide and other sources, consulting as needed with external sources. Simultaneously manages multiple high level projects and works directly with service line/physician leaders and a variety of multidisciplinary work groups.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In-house design team lead, providing guidance/direction to Brand Design Specialists.
  • Leads Regional Design work group, who creates/implements design standards. Simultaneously manages multiple projects, working directly with clients, physicians and leaders of multidisciplinary groups.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of the marketing objectives and strategies for the health system and is able to communicate to internal and external audiences.
  • Makes recommendations to increase brand image, through design opportunities.
  • Identifies market challenges and make recommendation(s) for improvement.
  • Independently creates brand and sub-branded designs in accordance with system marketing .
  • Develops and enforces project timelines/deadlines and communicates with internal customers and Marketing Director.
  • Manages multiple creative requests, many with immediate needs.
  • Develops/traffics and enforces project timelines/deadlines.
  • Regularly collaborates/communicates with internal customers and Marketing Director.
  • Leads assessment of and makes recommendations on outside printers and production partners.
  • Performs press checks as required.
  • Create service line print communications and paid advertising requests.
  • Coordinate production with printer and act as liaison with production staff, ensures compatibility between job request and production capabilities.
  • Maintains knowledge and works with latest design technology and equipment.
  • Assists in the development/implementation of crisis communications preparedness efforts for SJMHS, including planning and policy/procedure development.
  • Other jobs as assigned by Marketing Director and CMO.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Education: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in graphic design or an Associates in Graphic Design with 10+ years demonstrated senior level design experience.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years senior level design experience, including brand management, service line project management, and managing multiple priorities.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to model senior level skills/behaviors and mentor team when needed. Must be self-motivated, self-directed, proactive and solution-oriented in approach to work and serving the needs of internal and external clients and audiences. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple high level projects simultaneously and independently under strict deadlines. Excellent planning, organization, and prioritization skills in the areas of needs assessment, project management, budgeting, and tactical execution. Highly skilled in Adobe Design Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator CS5) and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) Creative and able to offer artistic ideas/solutions, while maintaining a feel for a professional aesthetic and understanding for the needs of the customer with an impeccable eye for detail.
