Pennoni is hiring!  In particular, we are looking for a Project Engineering Technician to contribute to our Civil Engineering team on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Newark, DE.  This person will work on a variety of projects with an emphasis on Municipal Infrastructure / Water Resources.

 

This person will be expected to perform a wide range of tasks depending on their skill set; this includes (but is not limited to) working on the design and planning for water & sewer conveyance / treatment systems, hydrologic & hydraulic modeling, stormwater planning, drainage / erosion / sediment control design, plan reviews, code review, feasibility studies, permitting, and report preparation. Our Project Engineering team interfaces with clients and manages multi-disciplinary projects with other staff as resources.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to design & drafting efforts for site design and land development projects.
  • Contribute to site layout, code review, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and permitting activities.
  • Preparation of engineering reports that present technical information to demonstrate compliance with client requirements and/or regulatory agency requirements.
  • Work on a variety of projects with public and private-sector clientele.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
 

Basic Requirements:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • 8+ years of professional experience working in Design and/or Engineering, preferably with infrastructure / utility projects.
 

This person will be expected to work in the field, as-needed, so they will be required to possess a Valid Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training in an Engineering-oriented discipline (preferably Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering); Bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • Experience working on Publics Works Infrastructure projects; expertise with wet utilities (e.g.:  Water & Wastewater) is preferred!
  • Experience working on greenfield / land development projects is a plus.
  • Proficiency with stormwater management design & permitting.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.:  CADD, analytical programs, etc.); experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and/or OpenFlows StormCAD is a plus!
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Advanced proficiency with technical math (including geometry and trigonometry).
  • Ability to grow a client base / seek new work & projects; business development experience is a plus (but not required)!
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written); expertise with active listening is a plus!
