Antea USA, Inc. (Antea®Group) is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Senior EHS Professional with demonstrated practical experience representing the building owner during new construction from safety design/development through project completion.

The ideal candidate will have at least ten(10) years of hands-on EHS experience in construction and be proficient in the management of high-risk activities including electrical safety, confined space, fall protection, and material handling. Experience evaluating and managing sub-contractors is required. You will drive EHS owner program requirements, regulatory compliance, and design risk assessment risk mitigation to as low as reasonably practicable. The candidate must also work well in collaborative environments, have strong verbal and written communication skills, be able to work independently, be detail-oriented, and possess a strong work ethic.

This is role located in North Charleston, SC.

Typical job assignments may include but are not limited to:

  • Design for Safety/EHS stakeholder for internal & external project teams (Eng, Operations, A/E, GC) throughout project design phase
    • Participate in ongoing Owner/Architect/Contractor team meetings and act as EHS stakeholder to drive EHS owner program requirement and regulatory compliance and Design Risk Assessment risk mitigation to As Low As Reasonably Practicable
    • Participate in design milestone drawing reviews and page turn meetings and provide EHS input
    • Collaborate with Environmental Compliance and Master Planning (MP) team during MP phase as needed and transfer EHS risks identified during MP to Design phase
  • Coordinate with Design Execution teams as well as internal (Operations, Eng, EHS Cons and Ops, etc) and external partners (A/Es, GCs, suppliers/vendors) to facilitate development of quality DfS deliverables.
  • Perform audits and inspections in program areas to include waste, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous materials.
  • Complete permitting applications for review and submittal to regulatory agencies.
  • Interfacing with employees and contractors to ensure safe processes are being followed and full implementation of company procedures.
  • Conducting health and safety auditing; requires an understanding of federal OSHA and EPA regulations and how they are applied to data center construction.
  • Conducting assessments of potential health and safety risks of construction activities.
  • Developing compliance recommendations based on regulatory understanding and interpretation.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's/master's degree in industrial technology, safety, or equivalent relevant experience in safety and design/construction field.
  • 10+ years of experience working in safety/safety design practice area.
  • Willingness and desire to work around multiple time zones
  • Must have a deep understanding of OSHA regulations and their applicability.
  • Must have working knowledge of and ability to implement electrical safety procedures with a deep understanding of NFPA 70e and the control of hazardous energy sources.
  • Must have in depth knowledge of controlling COVID-19 risks at construction sites.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, DOT, EPA, and health & safety regulations.
  • Additional safety training such as OSHA 10 or 30-hour for Construction or General Industry, 24-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER is a plus.
  • ASP, CSP, CIH, or ARM certification.
  • Must have strong skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Compliance with any client requirements, including but not limited to COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
  • Potential employees must be able to satisfactorily complete a background check, pre-employment drug screening (as permitted by law), and baseline physical (safety sensitive roles). They must also have a valid driver's license and good driving record.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment - Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:
  • Sedentary to light work (typical office or administrative work)
  • Frequently required to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of low (under 25lbs) to moderate (25-49lbs) weight objects
  • Repetitive motions: substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers (including reaching)
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions (protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change)
  • Operation of a motor vehicle
Additionally, if you are assigned work in the field at client project sites you will need to complete a medical surveillance/fitness-for-duty examination and maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:
  • Medium to heavy work
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions: heat/cold, wind, wet and/or humid, etc.
  • Occasional stooping (bending body downward and forward), kneeling (bending legs at knee), crouching (bending body downward and forward) and climbing
  • Frequent lifting (including push/pull, hold/carry) of light, moderate and possibly heavy weight objects
  • Subject to hazards, including a variety of physical conditions, including but not limited to: proximity to moving vehicles, parts or equipment; exposure to chemicals; pressure (including noise); electrical hazards; biological hazards; excavation/trenching; confined spaces; elevated work; materials handling
  • May be required to wear an air purifying respirator
