We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Senior Director to lead our product engineering team. You will be leading an offshore and newly created onshore team focused on building a digital platform for young talent, where they can discover, explore careers, take a course, and get a certification and eventually find a job. The role demands a strategic thinker who can balance technical leadership, strong people management skills, and technical acumen. You will play a crucial role in honing engineering processes, establishing best practices, and defining a culture that aligns with Tallo's vision.

This role will also collaborate closely with the head of product, principal architect and cross functional teams including product management and design. This person will actively participate in hands-on technical work, provide technology guidance and foster a collaborative and innovative culture.

● Lead and inspire onshore and offshore teams supporting software development, quality assurance and DevOps. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

● Responsible for hiring, leading, and mentoring engineering team members, including providing guidance and performance feedback.

● Work closely with product managers, designers, principal architect, and other key business stakeholders to align engineering effort with product strategy and roadmap.

● Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering initiatives are within scope and timeline constraints.

● Proactively interface with other engineering groups and enterprise architecture; collaborate on integration projects, best practices, and the introduction of new technologies to include aligning technology to business strategy and drive technical direction throughout the organization.

● Adopt a Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD) methodology and institutes a frequent release cadence.

● Put in place a engineering support model, to ensure proper triage, timely resolution of issues, and transparent and clear communication; ensure root cause analysis is conducted when needed, run books are in place and issues are resolved quickly.

● Have an innovative mindset to product development, engineering, and development processes and provide thought leadership and information dissemination in this area.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 15 or more Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

● Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field

● Fifteen (15) years of relevant experience

● Eight (8) years of proven experience in software engineering leadership roles

● Strong engineering delivery and execution track record with proven experience around the complete lifecycle of product development.

Certificates and Licenses: None required.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

● Ability to attract talent, inspire the organization, and develop the next generation of leaders.

● Experience interviewing, evaluation, and hiring for cross-functional agile software development teams.

● Leadership skills include coaching/mentoring, critical thinking, facilitation, change leadership, and team development.

● Ability to build trusting, meaningful relationships with peers, stakeholders, and partners.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including influencing technical decisions and direction, conflict management, negotiation, and presentations

● Full commitment to customer satisfaction

● Identify and drive innovation in products, technologies, processes, and solutions

● Results-oriented, pro-active, and committed to delivering high-quality software on time and in budget

● Relevant experience in large-scale application architecture/design, middleware architecture, integration architecture, application deployment methods, automation, testing, compliance, auditing

● Service-oriented and microservice architecture for highly available cloud-hosted applications and services in AWS and Microsoft clouds

● Understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices

● Ability and desire to thrive in a proactive, high-pressure environment

● Analytical and pragmatic with great problem-solving skills

● Ability to clear a required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

● Fifteen (15) years working on and/or leading Agile teams

● Ten (10) years of broad knowledge of Java

● Solid understanding of source control and using it effectively

● Five (5) years' experience with React

● Ten (10) years of experience with AWS and/or Azure

● Experience working with offshore and distributed teams

● Solid understanding of source control and using it effectively

● Good knowledge of Office 365 and MS Exchange APIs

● Experience with the following: Mongo, Java Spring Framework, Spring Boot, RDS, Postgres

Compensation & Benefits:Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.

  • We anticipate the salary range to be $126,532.50 - $308,095.20. The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
