ROLE of the POSITION

The Senior Director of Development serves as the Lee Business School's (LBS) chief development officer, managing the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major and principal gift prospects. The Senior Director also manages a personal major and principal gift portfolio. The Senior Director will be expected to travel outside of Southern Nevada at least 30% of the time to engage current and prospective donors for LBS and UNLV.

The Senior Director will work collaboratively with the Associate Vice President for Development, and the Dean to advance the mission of the Unit by conceptualizing and implementing strategies to increase financial support from alumni and donors and directing the fundraising strategy of the Lee Business School. The Senior Director will be responsible for meeting individual and Unit fundraising goals.

The Senior Director will be responsible for managing a donor portfolio of up to 120 prospects with a philanthropic capacity to give $50,000 or more to UNLV. The Senior Director will initiate and conduct at least 10 - 12 visits or substantive contact per month for the purpose of determining philanthropic interests, capacity, and readiness. The Senior Director will oversee all of the fundraising efforts for the new Lee Business School building.

The Senior Director will develop tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies and present written and oral proposals to donors. He /She will solicit gifts directly or in conjunction with the Dean. The Senior Director will serve as the chief fundraising advisor to the Dean, assisting in developing fundraising plans to meet the strategic goals of the Lee Business School. He /She will lead the business school's strategic planning for short-term and long-term fundraising goals and work with external and internal constituents to promote understanding of fundraising priorities.

In addition, the Senior Director of Development will:

1. Oversee all fundraising efforts on behalf of the Lee Business School, which may include: the development and implementation of fundraising initiatives that strategically engage and connect alumni, donors, and the community with the Lee Business School;

2. Supervise a team of development professionals within the Lee Business School

3. Successfully cultivate and sustain relationships with Lee Business School alumni, donors, faculty, and staff to enhance the fundraising outcomes and donor and alumni engagement of Lee Business

4. If budget permits, this individual will manage at least one development officer and one administrative support position.

The Senior Director will be required to work evenings and/or weekends as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Regular travel outside of Nevada will be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum of seven years of development experience. Demonstrated success with major and principal gifts fundraising within an educational setting. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with academic or industry leaders, staff, and volunteers. Experience working in a metric-driven environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in alumni relations and/or external affairs. Experience in higher education and in dealing with professionals and executives from private and public sectors. Three years of supervision or management experience. Experience overseeing a unit fundraising program. Oversight of a unit-based capital fundraising initiative.

SALARY RANGE

Salary is competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. The position is contingent upon funding.
